Tammy and Marina are at the mall, cryptically communicating about the mysterious men in their lives. They wonder what to do when you're attracted to someone your whole family pretty much hates. The girls decide there really isn't much they can do.

Tammy sees Jonathan with Reva and Frank. Frank accuses Jonathan of starting the fire which burned down Sandy's house. He informs him that a neighbor who ran over to try to contain it is injured in the hospital...and she saw a dark-haired young man and a blonde young woman running away from the scene. Jonathan confesses to setting the fire, but stresses that he was alone. Reva insists to Frank that Jonathan was with her at the time the fire was set. Frank leaves to check out Jonathan's alibi. Jonathan grudgingly accepts Reva's help before he tells Tammy what he's done. Tammy is moved by his sacrifice.

Later, Tammy is horrified when Cassie declares she's decided that Jonathan can never change. He's bad news and always will be; that's why Cassie told Reva she doesn't want Jonathan at their holiday party.

Marina goes shopping for a killer dress to wear to her New Year's Eve non-date with Alan-Michael. She drops by Spaulding to speak to him, only to learn Alan-Michael is leaving town. Harley has fired him. Now that Alan and Beth have been neutralized, Harley thinks she doesn't need him anymore and gives Alan-Michael permission to go back to his slothful lifestyle! Alan-Michael calls a friend and asks for an emergency to be arranged at the London office, all the while wincing over having to be so dismissive to Marina.

Earlier, Alan-Michael had ignored a ranting phone call from Alan, only to have Gus answer his brother's phone. He heard their father demanding to be let out. Gus goes to the asylum where Alan insists he'll be let out soon. Gus realizes he can't allow it, because of the threat that Alan poses to Harley.

Jeffrey gives Cassie a tree-trimming party he decided to plan all by himself. Cassie is charmed, but wary. Jeffrey swears he can handle it, and the two make love. Meanwhile, Josh and Olivia debate what to do about the picture Josh found of Jeffrey and Richard together. Josh's decision is made easier when Robards, the PI who originally dug up the information, calls Josh to demand more money, or else he is going to Cassie with the info. Figuring Cassie is better off hearing the truth from him, Josh heads to Cassie's, where he presents her with Jeffrey's dossier. Mallet comes to see Harley to discuss Marina getting in over her head at the police department, and suggests they go on a stakeout to confront her - just like the good old days. Harley, who is feeling cocky now that Gus is back in her bed and the sexy Mallet dreams out of her head, agrees. But, as soon as Mallet leaves, she has another fantasy about her ex. Mallet comes upon Dinah, who is trying to hide her tears after learning that Ross, Blake and the kids are going out of town for Christmas, so Dinah has no one to spend the holidays with. Lizzie has brought Coop to Quinn's luxurious penthouse suite in the hope they'd make love. She comes on a little strong, wearing a red negligee and having scattered rose petals on the bed. Coop is a little unnerved. He asks her how she got the room. When she shrugs it off, he demands to know how she could afford it. Lizzie states that it's Alan's - she stole the key from his safe. This makes coop feel better and they kiss. However, when Lizzie starts to undress him, he suddenly stops and asks her if she's sure she's ready for this. He tells her they don't have to do it if she isn't. Lizzie insists she's ready to sleep with him, but Coop's not so sure she is. This upsets Lizzie because she did all of this preparation, including reading stuff in magazines, just so tonight would be perfect. Coop gently tells her there is no way she could make a mistake. He assures her that she'll know what to do. After Lizzie tells Coop she loves him, they make love. Later, as Lizzie's basking in the aftermath, her cell phone rings. She tells Coop it's her boss and takes the call. It's not her boss though - it's Quinn, wanting to know how it went. Lizzie thanks him for the use of his suite. He suggests she visit his parents' villa in Switzerland, just her, not Coop. Lizzie declines the offer, but asks if she can use his suite on a regular basis.

Mallet and Dinah are outside Company. Dinah is complaining about the fact that her family will be gone for Christmas. At this point, they spot Reva and Billy. Dinah invites them to hang out at Company with Mallet and her. But Reva states they're going to Cassie's tree lighting party. She invites them to come, but Dinah declines. When they leave, Dinah starts complaining again about Christmas and how she wants to forget all about it and just have lunch. She and Mallet enter Company, only to see a slightly tipsy man singing Christmas carols. Not really in the mood, Dinah just about throws a drink in the man's face but was stopped by Mallet. He gently suggests the man leave. Just then, Dinah is shocked to see her mother, Vanessa, in Company. Dinah is very happy to see Vanessa and gives her a big hug. Vanessa seems a little surprised since Dinah's not usually so happy to see her. Dinah point out it's because usually Vanessa comes by when she's causing problems; she knows that's not the case now. Vanessa tells Dinah that Mallet suggested she spend the holidays with her. Dinah's a little hurt to lean her mother came because Mallet talked her into it. But Vanessa assures her she didn't need much persuading. Vanessa says Mallet was very charming on the phone and he seems to know Dinah like a book. She leaves to make a call, to let them be alone on their "date." Dinah tells her mother it's not a date. When Vanessa steps out, Dinah blasts Mallet for inviting her mother and asks what his motive is. At this point, Mallet gets defensive and tells her not to assume everyone has an agenda just because she has one. Dinah points out that nothing comes without strings. A defensive Mallet states he simply invited her mother because he knew she was lonely, however, if that's not good enough, she can buy him lunch. Vanessa comes in at the end of the argument and Mallet leaves. Vanessa warns Dinah not to ruin things. Dinah insists there is nothing between her and Mallet. But Vanessa thinks Dinah just can't recognize a good man when one's in her life. Vanessa points out that Dinah and Mallet have chemistry.

At the farm, Tammy tries to tell Cassie and Jeffrey that Jonathan didn't start the fire, but her mother refuses to even listen. Sandy shows up. Tammy thinks Cassie invited Sandy to her party, but he says he came of his own accord. He asks to speak to her. In the corner with Tammy, Sandy gives her a gift - a crystal star for the Christmas tree, her ring and his new divorce papers. Tammy tells Sandy they're over, it doesn't matter if he's divorced or not. A miffed Sandy knows this is about Jonathan and asks her if she honestly thinks he will fit in with her family. Upset, Tammy storms out and runs into Jonathan, who's been lurking outside. Jonathan tells her that he wants to be with her tonight, so Tammy tells him to give her a little time to make an exit and goes back inside. When she goes in, Josh, who came to the party with Olivia, is helping RJ put the star on the tree. Afterwards, Sandy talks to Tammy again, trying to convince her that she can be happy with him again. He tells her to think about it. While the family is singing Christmas carols, Tammy slips out to make love to Jonathan in the barn. Sandy knows where's she's gone and when the party starts to break up, he suggests they go sled riding outside, knowing the sleds are kept in the barn. They all agree and the whole family walks in on Jonathan and Tammy together!
