Kimberlin Brown joins AMC, her sixth soap

When Emmy-nominated Kimberlin Brown joins the cast of All My Children in mid-October, it will mark the actress' sixth different soap gig. Brown began her daytime run as Sheila Carter on The Young and the Restless. She has also appeared on Another World, The Bold and the Beautiful, One Life to Live, and Port Charles.

Soap opera veteran Kimberlin Brown has been hired for a short-term, but integral role on All My Children. The Emmy-nominated actress will play the judge presiding over the David Hayward murder trial.

During her storied daytime career, Brown has appeared on five different soap operas. She began her run in 1990 as villainous Sheila Carter on CBS's The Young and the Restless. Two years later, Brown crossed over to Y&R's sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful. She remained on B&B for the next six years, while still making occasional appearances on The Young and the Restless as well.

In 1999, Brown made a guest appearance on Another World. In June of the same year, the actress started a yearlong stint on ABC's Port Charles. Brown returned to The Bold and the Beautiful in 2002 for a short-term engagement before taking on the role of Paige Miller on One Life to Live. After Brown turned the page on her OLTL alter ego in June 2005, she headed back to something more familiar -- the role of Sheila -- this time on The Young and the Restless. Six months later, Brown was once again out.

Last November, Soap Central reported on Brown's imminent return to The Young and the Restless -- but a source later revealed that storyline was reworked and Brown would not be rejoining the show.

Brown earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1993 in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category for her work on The Young and the Restless.

In what can only be called an ironic twist, Brown was born in Hayward, California.

The name of Brown's All My Children character has not yet been revealed. She will first air on October 18.
