In the world of Black Clover, Yuki Tabata unveiled a plot twist so enormous that it redefined the role of one of the most beloved characters in the series. The character was none other than Wizard King Julius Novachrono.

It was revealed that Julius was not his true identity; he was Lucius Zogratis, eldest brother of the infamous Zogratis siblings. Because of this new revelation, fans have been asking if this means that Zenon and Julius are related.

The short answer is yes, both of them are related. Because Julius was never just Julius. He was always Lucius Zogratis in hiding, and that makes him and Zenon brothers. Before their relationship is explored it is important to understand who Lucius was in the first place.

He was the oldest member of the Zogratis siblings. They are the main villains of the Spade Kingdom arc. But Lucius was unlike his sibling, who relied on brute force; he was calculating and carried himself with an air of superiority.

Interestingly, he was born with two souls in one body. One was Julius, and the other was Lucius in Black Clover. It was Julius who emerged as the face that the Clover Kingdom came to adore.

Meanwhile, Lucius kept himself in the shadows and came up with his evil schemes. His ultimate goal is to successfully create a world of undying peace by remaking humanity into perfect beings who cannot defy his will.

Julius and Zenon are biological siblings because technically, Lucius is the actual brother. For fans who’ve followed Black Clover closely and grown attached to Julius’s personality, it was a shocking revelation to learn that he was one of two souls residing in the same body.

Moreover, while Zenon, Dante, and Vanica each had their Devils, Lucius was chosen by Astaroth, the Supreme Devil of Time Magic, and arguably the most dangerous of the bunch. Unlike typical siblings, there is little evidence of familial warmth or loyalty between them.

It seems like Lucius treats Zenon like any other siblings. In his eyes, they are just pawns who need to play their role in making his plan successful. Zenon, on the other hand, idolized strength and order, which may have aligned with Lucius’s ideology on the surface but diverged in execution. Zenon’s tragic backstory revealed that he genuinely believed sacrificing individuality was necessary for peace, a belief that Lucius likely nurtured or exploited.

Their relationship does not have an ounce of brotherhood and they always try to manipulate each other. Lucius used Zenon’s trauma and ambition to further his utopian vision, ultimately viewing even his family as expendable tools for a greater good.

How will this impact Asta and the Clover Kingdom in

The emergence of Lucius has changed the overall narrative in Black Clover. Asta’s dream of becoming the Wizard King can only be achieved if he manages to overcome multiple crises. Meanwhile, Lucius has also declared that Judgment Day will come in seven days, during which he will kill and recreate everyone in the world to build a perfect society.

As his plans have sprung into action, Asta is pushed into a corner. Now that the final arc is in full swing, readers can expect a full-scale holy war between Lucius’s Paladins and the Magic Knight squads.

Final thoughts

As Black Clover is getting near its climax, the series has revealed a major secret. Julius, the embodiment of fairness, kindness, and hope, was the series’ ultimate antagonist. This isn’t just a plot twist for shock value; it’s a commentary on power, trust, and the dangers of utopian thinking.

Lucius Zogratis may be Zenon’s brother, but he’s something far scarier: a villain who believes he’s the hero. Fans have to now wait and watch as the heroes have to overcome their biggest obstacle yet and fight to protect their beloved kingdom.
