The world of Chainsaw Man features a plethora of memorable side characters, but very few match the standards set by the fascinating leader of Tokyo Special Division 4, Kishibe. Originally introduced in the Katana Man Arc, Kishibe majorly played the role of a mentor to Denji and Power.

Though he was brought in by Makima to strengthen the protagonist, the elderly Devil Hunter soon got attached to his pupils. Kishibe’s importance in the series greatly evolved during the second half of Chainsaw Man Part 1, where he showed off his seasoned senses by suspecting Makima’s intentions.

Given how treacherous and deadly Tatsuki Fujimoto’s world of devils is, fans may be curious to learn about Kishibe’s fate in the series. While Kishibe is yet to make his return in Chainsaw Man Part 2: The Academy Saga, his final appearance in the Public Safety Saga suggests that he is still alive.

Kishibe’s final appearance in Chainsaw Man

As mentioned, Kishibe was one of the very few people who were skeptical about Makima from the very beginning. After the Control Devil began revealing her true colors, killing Power, Aki, and several others, Kishibe took action by forming a task force to bring her down.

In the Control Devil Arc, this task force attacked the antagonist and even sacrificed their lives to summon the Hell Devil. Unfortunately, their scheme was brought to a halt due to Makima’s control over Chainsaw Man, as she manipulated him into protecting her.

Later, after Power’s blood barely saved Denji from being killed by Makima, Kishibe rescued him from a dumpster and took him to a hideout. While there, he helped Denji regain his spirit, after which the protagonist formulated his plan to kill Makima and continue living as Chainsaw Man.

Following this, Denji’s scheme of fooling Makima with Pochita’s body ended up working, as he took her by surprise and killed her. As the protagonist cooked her into food to prevent her reincarnation, Kishibe questioned his methods but told his disciple not to die, reaffirming that Denji was most suited to be a Devil Hunter.

Kishibe’s official final appearance occurs in chapter 97, where Denji met him after eating Makima. As the two shared a conversation about how Denji’s plan worked and Makima was not reborn, Kishibe introduced the boy to the new Control Devil, Nayuta.

Having found her in China, he entrusted the young girl to Denji to ensure that she didn’t turn out to be like Makima. Kishibe left soon after, telling Denji that he was “about to get busy.”

Will Kishibe show up in Chainsaw Man Part 2?

As mentioned, Kishibe is yet to show up in the second part of Chainsaw Man, titled the Academy Saga. When Quanxi confronted Denji, she refused to attack him, referring to a time when Kishibe told her not to harm the protagonist. Therefore, despite his lack of screentime, Kishibe still remains relevant in Chainsaw Man Part 2.

There was little context provided for what he meant when he said he would get busy, but it could refer to the Prophecy of Nostradamus and the Death Devil, or the danger of the War Devil, who is growing more powerful by the second due to America’s rediscovery of nuclear weapons.

Since Kishibe is a talented Devil Hunter who does not generally stay on the sidelines, he is possibly working to ensure that the world doesn’t fall prey to the schemes of the devils. With Denji currently at his lowest point, it may not be long before Kishibe makes his return to the series yet again.
