Imu is one of the most mysterious figures in the world. Almost no One Piece character knows they exist. And even fewer have ever seen them and lived to talk about it. That makes these characters extremely rare. Every One Piece character on this list has looked Imu in the eye and survived.

Some by luck, others by position. Whether by accident or fate, these moments reveal just how high the stakes are in the world of One Piece. Let’s take a look at the few who’ve seen Imu and made it out alive.

List of One Piece characters

1. The Gorosei (Five Elders)

The Five Elders are the highest-ranking figures in the World Government. Each One Piece character in this group serves directly under Imu, making them part of a very small circle that knows about the true ruler of the world. They don't just know of Imu; they take orders from them.

They’re often shown kneeling before Imu in the chamber of the Empty Throne, treating them like a god. This means the Gorosei have likely seen Imu many times. Despite being powerful in their own right, the fact that they follow Imu’s lead says a lot about Imu’s strength and authority. There are a lot of One Piece theories about Imu, but nothing is confirmed yet.

2. Sabo

Sabo is another One Piece character who has seen Imu and survived, though barely. During the Levely arc, he sneaked into Pangaea Castle and ended up in the chamber with the Empty Throne. There, he saw Imu sitting on the Empty Throne, surrounded by the Gorosei. It was a shocking moment.

Most people in the world believe no one rules the world alone, but Sabo saw the truth for himself. Sabo tried to save King Cobra, who was also there, but failed. Unfortunately, Cobra died in that encounter. Sabo, on the other hand, escaped with his life and told Ivankov and Dragon of the Revolutionary Army. Sabo’s sighting of Imu has made him one of their top targets. And now, he is being hunted by the World Government.

3. Wapol

Wapol is often seen as a joke, but this One Piece character somehow ended up seeing Imu, too. During the chaos at Mary Geoise when the Five Elders and Imu killed King Nefertari Cobra, Wapol accidentally saw them. What he saw terrified him. Even though he did not like Cobra, he felt remorse for his death at the hands of the World Government. He was noticed by the Five Elders but immediately fled the scene.

Wapol went into hiding on Big News Morgan's airship with Princess Vivi. Wapol told Morgan what he saw in exchange for refuge. This information gave Morgans a huge scoop, but it also put Wapol in danger. The fact that Wapol survived after seeing Imu is more about luck than skill. He wasn’t supposed to see them at all. Now, just like Sabo, he is in grave danger.

4. Rocks D. Xebec

Rocks D. Xebec is the most mysterious One Piece character on this list. He was once the most dangerous pirate in the world, and new details show he may have seen Imu long before anyone else. During the Levely held 56 years ago, Rocks kidnapped five kings, clashed with King Harald, and even killed an admiral.

But the most surprising part? He met Imu during this event. He visited the Room of Flowers and met Imu directly. There's a lot we still don't know. Like whether he snuck in or was invited. Some fans think Imu wanted to study him because he carried the Will of D. After the Levely, Rocks robbed the Celestial Dragons and destroyed the Justice Gate. Whether he's dead or still alive is up for debate, but one thing’s clear: he saw Imu and lived.

Conclusion

Each One Piece character on this list is tied to one of the biggest secrets in the story. Seeing Imu and living to tell the tale is no small thing. It's worth noting that Manmayer Gunko was not added to this list. Though she can be said to be fairly close to Imu, she was only possessed by Imu. In reality, she didn't see them.

We might see more characters confront the shadowy figure on the Empty Throne as One Piece progresses. These are the few who have survived to remember it, though.
