Mizuki realized she loved Sano as a person, not just as an athlete, during the poignant portion of Hana-Kimi episode 3. Beyond the high-jumping stuff, she wanted to get to know him. That change was significant because it indicated that her feelings were becoming more than just idolatry.
Hana-Kimi Episode 4: What to Expect
Hana-Kimi episode 4 will probably discuss the repercussions of Mizuki enrolling Sano in the track meet. He's still upset over it, and they ought to talk to each other instead of being apart.
