Blue Lock chapter 314 has generated significant buzz across the internet, but not due to the events within the manga itself. Rather, the installment, which was officially released on August 6, 2025, was staggeringly short, featuring only 10 pages in total.

Additionally, chapter 314 was officially titled Core (Part 1), suggesting that its abrupt ending was due to being split up into two parts. As a result, fans may be wondering whether they can expect the exciting match between Japan and Nigeria to continue this week, or if the manga is on break.

The Blue Lock manga is officially on break after chapter 314, as it is a break week for Kodansha’s weekly lineup as a whole. Additionally, there has been speculation that the author is facing health concerns, making this a much-needed and coincidental hiatus.

Why is the Blue Lock manga on break after chapter 314?

As mentioned, there will be no chapter this week due to Kodansha’s magazine break. As a result, the next Blue Lock chapter will be coming out on August 20, 2025. However, even if there was no official break week, the manga would likely have gone on hiatus.

This is because of the high possibility that either writer Muneyuki Kaneshiro or artist Yuusuke Nomura is facing health concerns. Blue Lock has been serialized for over seven years, and there have been minimal instances where the manga did not have close to 20 pages.

This makes the 10-page chapter 314 a rarity. Additionally, the ending of chapter 314 makes it clear that it was not planned in advance, but was a sudden decision to cut it halfway through due to the lack of content to complete the chapter.

While there has been no confirmation provided by the publishers, it would not be surprising if the creators were under immense strain and needed to recover, especially since the last time they took a break week was after chapter 300.

Blue Lock chapter 314 (part 2) predictions

The first part of chapter 314 ended with Japan going on the counter, with Karasu passing the ball to Chigiri. The speedster then charged past the opposition’s defense and gave a curved cross to a teammate.

While most were expecting the ball to be taken by Rin, Isagi appeared, ready to receive it. The chapter suddenly cut with a cliffhanger as a mystery player got ready to jump, prepared to cut Isagi’s plan short. Blue Lock chapter 314 (part 2) will most likely reveal this player to be Onazi, who has been Nigeria’s key hope in the match so far.

The forward’s superior physical attributes would allow him to intercept the ball, after which Nigeria could follow through with their own attack. At the same time, the next chapter may also reveal whether Onazi’s role as the core of his team was taken into consideration by Isagi when he made his calculations to achieve victory.
