After the shocking events that took place in Shibuya, fans are ready for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. These are exciting times as fans are getting a film that would bridge the gap between this upcoming season and the end of the last. The official website has released news about how many episodes the upcoming season is going to have and the release date.

According to the sources, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 broadcast for 26 episodes, split into two cours of 13 episodes each. The first part, titled Culling Game Part 1, premieres on January 7, 2026 (Japan), with international simulcasting through Crunchyroll beginning the same week.

The Culling Game arc is about to be the most intense arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, as it is heavy on the battles. The stakes are constantly high, and with no Gojo to restore balance in their world, it is upto the rest of the cast to take over and stop the villains. All Jujutsu Sorcerers and cursed users will take part in a deadly contest. Fans can expect the introduction of new characters who will be part of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3.

A more stable production and cinematic vision

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will start after Yuji Itadori is devastated because of the destruction caused by Sukuna, who had taken control of his body. Moreover, he also has to escape from an order by a higher authority to execute him. The one chosen to carry it out? Yuta Okkotsu, the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Gojo’s prized student. Unfortunately, there is no Gojo to save his students from the higher-ups of the Jujutsu world.

The recently released Jujutsu Kaisen: The Execution compilation film, which hit Japanese theaters on November 7, 2025, teases the emotional clash between the two. It revisits the end of Season 2’s Shibuya Incident while including the first two episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. When Season 2 was airing, there were a few controversies around MAPPA on how they were not giving animators sufficient breaks.

But now things are different as the production house has ensured that this time the workflow is smoother. Director Shota Goshozono and writer Hiroshi Seko, the same duo behind the Shibuya Incident, return to work on Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, and they are aiming for consistency and cinematic polish across both cours.

Till now in the story, we thought Sukuna was the biggest threat, but in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, it is Kenjaku who emerges as the true puppet master in Season 3. After possessing the body of Suguru Geto, Kenjaku staged Gojo’s sealing and set the stage for the Culling Game. It is a twisted experiment meant to evolve humanity by merging all human souls with Master Tengen.

Fans can expect his cunning to shape the tone of Season 3, with new players and alliances constantly forming and breaking. The trailer even teases the introduction of fan-favorite fighters like Hajime Kashimo, whose lightning-based techniques promise jaw-dropping battles.

Final thoughts

Fans are happy with getting 26 episodes in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, as this means they will not have to wait a lot to witness Gege's most ambitious written storytelling. Everyone can expect the first cour to have the foundational stages of the Culling Games, and the second cour will be focused more on battles.

For now, for anime-only fans, the fate of Gojo remains uncertain. All of the responsibility is now on Yuji, Megumi, Yuta, and others to navigate through this chaos and find a strategy to ensure that whatever Kenjaku is planning should not be successful. The Culling Game begins January 2026, and once it starts, there’s no turning back.
