In the world of One Piece, Haki is a primary power system, and those who master it are guaranteed to make a name for themselves. There are three forms of Haki: Observation, Armament and Conqueror’s Haki. While the first two can be awakened through training, Conqueror’s Haki is an innate skill one has to be born with.

Also called Supreme King Haki, only the most formidable figures in One Piece are capable of using it. While there haven’t been any new additions to the list of users for a while, many fans expected the land of Elbaph to bring some prospects. Their anticipation has now been rewarded, as Scopper Gaban, the Left Arm of the Pirate King, has exhibited frightening Conqueror's Haki.

Scopper Gaban had been foreshadowed for a long time in One Piece as a man who commanded just as much respect as Gol D. Roger and Silvers Rayleigh. He was part of the Roger Pirates and accompanied his captain on the quest to find Laugh Tale. During their adventures, Gaban also gained the nickname of “Mountain-Eater” for defeating enemy pirates with his axes and cutting down every tree on a mountain.

After the Roger Pirates disbanded, Gaban settled down in Elbaph, where he became Ripley's lover and Colon's father. His first official appearance came in One Piece’s Elbaph Arc, when Luffy was trying to find the key to free Loki.

Gaban, who went by Ya-san, had been assigned to look after this key and provoked Luffy into a fight. This led to an intense battle between the Pirate King’s left arm and the duo of Luffy and Zoro. While Gaban only appeared for a few chapters, he showcased signs of possessing various forms of Haki.

Firstly, Gaban could use Observation Haki to sense the presence of the God’s Knights in Elbaph. He could also closely analyze Luffy and Zoro when they got serious during their battle, in which the protagonist used his Gear Five.

Additionally, during their short confrontation, Gaban also imbued Loki’s giant key with Haki to strike Luffy. This has sparked debate within the One Piece fandom, since some believe it to be a display of Armament Haki that hardens items, while others argue it is Conqueror’s Haki. This speculation mainly arises because black lightning came out of the key, which is unique only to Conqueror’s Haki.

Finally, early leaks of One Piece chapter 1148 have confirmed that Scopper Gaban can use Conqueror’s Haki. This is not just plain Conqueror’s Haki, which can intimidate weaker opponents, but Advanced Conqueror’s Haki. Called “ACOC” by the fandom, Advanced Conqueror’s Haki allows users to infuse themselves and weapons with Conqueror’s Haki, drastically increasing their strength.

While Gaban’s use of the key earlier is still a divisive topic, the upcoming chapter shows him using his axes against Saint Sommers. Swiftly slashing through his opponent, the black lightning of Advanced Conqueror’s Haki is seen, showing how he is the newest user of the ability.

How strong is Scopper Gaban’s Advanced Conqueror’s Haki in One Piece?

Based on the limited appearances of Gaban using Advanced Conqueror’s Haki in One Piece, it is no overstatement to say he is one of its most powerful wielders. Gaban is a man who reached Laugh Tale and even fought evenly against Oden in the past. As we know, Oden is a user of Conqueror’s Haki himself and had overpowered Kaido during their confrontation.

Hence, Gaban is no less impressive than these figures. His strength is often compared to Roger and Rayleigh, and regular swings of his axes with no Haki were enough to threaten both Luffy and Zoro.

As seen from the leaks of One Piece chapter 1148, Gaban’s presence also terrifies Saint Sommers, who is part of the indomitable God’s Knights. Their fight ends just as soon as it begins, with the former pirate cutting through the antagonist.

Hence, considering his reputation, experience, and talent, there is no reason to believe Gaban isn’t one of the strongest Advanced Conqueror’s Haki users in the series. Given his parallels with Sanji, many fans are also hoping for Gaban to teach the Straw Hats’ chef how to unlock Conqueror’s Haki.
