The One Piece manga is currently at a pivotal stage, with the Rocks Pirates gaining infamy across the seas and the events of the God Valley Incident drawing nearer by the second.

However, while most fans are eagerly anticipating more exciting revelations in the Elbaph flashback as well as the return of the Straw Hats in the main timeline, recent spoilers have suggested that they will have to wait much longer than expected. This is mainly because the manga will be following a bi-weekly schedule for all of August.

According to acclaimed leaker @pewpiece on X/Twitter, One Piece will be going on break yet again after chapter 1157, due to which chapter 1158 will only be released on Monday, September 1, 2025. This means that the month of August 2025 will have only two chapters of the manga, resulting in frustration within the fandom.

One Piece’s recent manga schedule breaks the momentum of the Elbaph Arc

As mentioned, the One Piece manga will only have two chapters in the month of August 2025. Oda had taken a break week after chapter 1155, while the Shonen Jump magazine as a whole took a break after chapter 1156.

In the week leading up to the release of One Piece chapter 1157, it has also been revealed that Oda will be taking another break week before chapter 1158. While no one can fault the creator, who has been consistently delivering high-quality chapters since 1997 and even contributing to the anime and live-action adaptations, recent installments have sparked chaos across the fandom.

Most fans were expecting Oda’s bi-weekly schedule to be temporary due to a coincidental clash between his own break and the magazine hiatus, but the creator’s decision to delay the manga further immediately after the release of chapter 1157 seemingly confirms that he is under immense strain or is facing health issues.

As a result, readers of the manga are becoming increasingly concerned about the momentum of the story’s flashback as well as the confrontation between Imu and the Straw Hats, which is happening in the current timeline.

The Elbaph Arc is currently in a thrilling phase, as the flashback has shown the rivalry between the Roger Pirates and the Marines, the legacy of the Kuja Pirates, as well as the connection between Rocks D. Xebec and Harald.

As the Rocks Pirates start taking steps to overthrow the World Government, fans are understandably disappointed at the long wait before experiencing the defining events of this legendary era, as well as the upcoming God Valley Incident.

Additionally, while there was initially a half-joking belief that fans would only see the Straw Hats again next year, this seems closer to becoming the truth due to the frequent breaks in the manga. With both the flashback and the current events in the One Piece world being affected by the hiatuses, fans are worried about Oda’s health as well as the future of the series.
