When fans saw the image of Itadori Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the first reaction was to celebrate, as many wanted the old cast to make an appearance. But because this spin-off series is set 68 years after the original plot ended, having hope felt bleak because most of the characters by now either would be extremely old or dead. Itaodi, on the other hand, seems not to be shown as an old person. This has the fandom questioning if he has stopped aging.

This is a wild theory, but it makes sense because in the panel of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 10, he still looks like an adult. This could be possible due to Sukuna’s cursed energy still lingering in this body or his altered biology. Maybe chances are that the creator himself wanted to bring back a character who is above human aging to fight against the new threats introduced in this storyline.

For this theory to make sense, it is important to talk about the origins of Itadori. His character was no ordinary person because we are shown that even before he ate Sukuna’s finger in Jujutsu Kaisen, he already had above-average strength, reflexes, and a durable body. It was later revealed in the story that Kenjaku has engineered his birth, which led him to become the perfect vessel for Sukuna himself.

In the timeline of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, his body has gone through a lot, and that is why fans are theorizing that these events might have led his body to be altered at a cellular level. This leads to him having a different type of aging system, and there has been another character with a similar trait, his “brother” Choso.

In the case of Choso, he has a youthful appearance due to the fact that he was not born human but originated as a cursed object. Meanwhile, Yuji was born as a human, but because he shared a genetic link, chances are his body has adapted to this new change. That is why he could possess a hybrid physiology where cursed energy continually repairs his body, slowing physical aging dramatically.

Sukuna’s lingering influence and the Binding Vow hypothesis

One of the most popular theories among the fandom is that there is some part of Sukuna still inside Itadori Yuji. Even after making sure he was exorcised at the end of the original story, there is speculation that Sukuna’s cursed energy might have left an imprint on Yuji’s soul. To be a vessel to the King of Curses, there has to be some kind of catch, meaning there must be some consequences to one's physical body.

Sukuna managed to keep his energy intact with those fingers, so if Yuji indeed managed to retain some of his energy, then it could help in prolonging his life. In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, Itadori is supposed to be an 83-year-old man, and the manga panel showed no sign of aging for someone who is supposed to be that old. Think of it like a residual effect, Sukuna’s energy didn’t just leave; it rewired Yuji’s body.

Another interesting idea floating among fans is that Yuji might have created a binding vow tied to his existence. Some believe Yuji could’ve vowed to remain alive until Mahito’s reincarnation or until he fulfills an unfinished mission involving cursed spirits. Given that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo hints at Mahito’s presence in limbo and humanity still dealing with supernatural forces, this theory carries weight.

What does it mean for the narrative of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

If Yuji Itadori truly isn’t aging or is aging incredibly slowly, it positions him as a symbolic bridge between eras. Additionally, he was the main character of the original story, and fans would want to see him make an appearance in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, so Gege Akutami has to get creative and give an explanation of keeping him alive and how he is still able to maintain his powers and not look like an old man. Whether Gege Akutami ever confirms this or not, one thing’s for sure: Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has turned Yuji from a tragic hero into a living myth.
