Carter Walton has a history of doomed relationships, and he is back to waving a red flag after his latest stunt with Daphne. This week on The Bold and the Beautiful, spoilers indicate that Carter grows tired of waiting for the relationship to organically progress, so he returns to his familiar bag of tricks and finds himself on one knee. He’s done the same with leading ladies like Hope and Paris, but this time, with someone ike Daphne, the rush to the altar may be halted before it begins.
History repeats itself

Carter jumps into marriage to solve his desperate need to be loved. Before Daphne, he got engaged to Hope Logan soon after she had her own relationship issues with Thomas. Even though Carter and Hope cared about each other, he broke off the engagement when he realized she still had feelings for Liam. He couldn't compete with a desire to put her family back together. Carter tends to commit to people who aren’t fully available, making failure inevitable.
Before Hope, Carter was previously engaged to Paris. He tried to marry her quickly, multiple times, and neither worked out. Carter cares more about becoming a husband than finding genuine love. Carter sees proposals as a quick solution instead of the result of a strong relationship. None of his relationships had a strong foundation to go the distance.
Everything boils down to the undeniable fact that Carter moves too fast. He proposes before he really knows how his partner feels or if he’s ready himself. Because of this, each engagement starts off with problems, and fans are left wondering if Daphne will be the next victim of the "Carter Curse."
Will Daphne break the cycle?

On paper, there’s nothing about Carter’s relationship with Daphne that gives the impression that it will be any more successful than his previous failed couplings. Daphne has kept Carter at a distance since he ended his engagement to Hope, and there’s been hardly any forward progress between the two. Aside from Carter gawking over her while she performed karaoke at Il Giardino, they’ve rarely shown any genuine chemistry or connection. Kissing under the mistletoe at Eric’s Christmas party doesn’t count either.
If this week’s spoilers are any indication, Daphne is set to do the correct thing in this situation by attempting to let Carter down gently. He has far too many failed engagements behind him for Daphne not to proceed with caution. If Carter isn’t performing a wedding ceremony for someone in the Forrester family, he’s being fitted for a tux for his own wedding. Carter has an endless cycle of broken engagements, but perhaps it’s time for someone like Daphne to put a stop to it. She has the ability to break the cycle and put Carter on a path of self-reflection and emotional healing.
Carter and Daphne have potential as a couple, but rushing into a marriage isn’t going to end well. They don’t know each other intimately enough to make such a significant life commitment. Daphne previously stated that she was going to make Carter earn a place in her life, and giving in to his stunt proposal isn’t the way to do this. Carter and Hope’s engagement ended only a few short months ago, and although she has already moved on and remarried Liam, he and Daphne don’t have that type of shared history to rely on.
If Carter takes a step back and thinks things through, he might see that not every relationship needs a rapid marriage license. Ultimately, Carter and Daphne would benefit from giving their relationship more time to grow before making such a big decision.
