The Bold and the Beautiful Recap, December 30: Katie accuses Brooke of being jealous over Bill

What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful

Ridge and Brooke grew impatient while Carter attempted to regain control of the Logan trademark. Meanwhile, Bill applied pressure to Liam, ordering his son to secure the name for Katie’s new venture. Brooke thought Katie was unreasonable about the entire situation, and Carter panicked once he realized someone else had gotten the trademark.

Carter assured Brooke and Ridge that when he began filling out the renewal form, the name was available. However, he was booted from the system when it was purchased by someone else. Ridge asked him to dig into who got it before them, but Brooke insisted that he didn’t bother. She knew exactly who did it, and she refused to let Bill and Katie get away with it.

Ridge was furious that Spencer managed to get a hold of the trademark before they could renew it. He believed that Brooke was the only person who had the right to claim the name Logan. Although Carter defended Katie’s standing in the fashion world, Ridge didn’t think it equated to the impact that Brooke had made. Her name recognition significantly exceeded that of Katie’s.

Carter asked if Brooke had any chance at talking Katie out of using the Logan name for her new venture. Carter thought that Kaite could eventually come to her senses.

Liam secured the name for Katie, and no one could take it from her. She thanked Liam for helping her make her dream a reality. Katie explained that the opportunity to call her company, Logan, was a very big deal to her. She felt empowered by the ability to use her own name.

Katie wished Brooke had been more supportive, and Bill predicted she’d take things to greater heights. Liam left to get back to work, and Katie thanked Bill for everything he’d done for her. He sang her praises and told her it was time for her to get the full spotlight, something Forrester refused to give her.

Brooke stormed into Katie’s new office, incensed that her little sister snagged the Logan trademark. She asked Katie if she was proud of herself. Katie was surprised to see Brooke, and Brooke believed she knew why.

Brooke felt betrayed on the most profound level. She felt like the Loganb name was Forrester's intellectual property, and that was very wrong. Brooke took credit for bringing Katie into the industry, and she struggled to understand why Katie would infringe on her name in such a disrespectful way.

Brooke pointed out all of the things necessary to launch a fashion house, and she thought it was a mere fantasy at the current point. Katie also pointed out that Eric didn’t have much to begin with, and Vrooke was offended that her sister was comparing herself to the Forrester patriarch.

Katie wanted to surround herself with the best of the best, and she thought that was an example of creative leadership at its best. She tore into Brooke, saying, “Logan is a pet name that your husband calls you. Eric didn’t use it when you were married to him. Thorne didn’t use it when you were with him. If anyone associates you with Forester, maybe it’s because,” - but Brooke interrupted her before she could go in for the kill with the rest of that line.

Katie was gobsmacked that things developed the way they had. She was hopeful that Brooke would have supported her, but instead, she’s been belittled and berated. Brooke insisted she name it something like “Katie Logan Designs,” but Katie’s mind was made up. She wanted a name that was simple and declarative, and Logan fit the bill.

Brooke thought Katie took things personally and believed it was an attack on her specifically. She accused Katie of being jealous of her for her entire life. Brooke compared Katie to a little girl looking out a window at her sister’s enormous success. Brooke thought Katie was naive for thinking she’d take the company to great success and told her to accept her eventual failure.

Katie felt like Brooke discounted everything she did to ensure Brooke reached the aforementioned levels of success. Katie wasn’t a stranger to the business. She also mentioned that she ran Forrester Creations for a while, and Brooke brought up Bill, prompting Katie to ask whether he was at the crux of their newfound issue.

Katie asked, “Wouldn’t it be funny if, after all of these years, what you’re really upset about is that you’re losing out to me over a man? Your little sister. That little girl looking out the window. Is it infuriating that a man you once controlled doesn’t want you anymore? He wants me.”

At the beach house, Dylan talked about how expensive rent was in Los Angeles. She was embarrassed that Will and Electra learned her shameful secret. They tried to comfort her and assure Dylan that there was nothing to be ashamed of. They worried about her, and they wanted to help. Electra asked Dylan to come clean about how she ended up in her current circumstance.

After Dylan’s apartment plans fell through, things spiralled from there. She spent the holidays in her vehicle, and nobody in her life was aware of just how dire things had become. Will worried that the HOA would tow her car because she didn’t have a parking permit. That’s the only reason he started making comments. However, Dylan was embarrassed about the state of her life, so she didn’t want anyone to find out.

Dylan arrived in Los Angeles, hopeful to become an artist. Things went well until her lease was up, when the landlord dramatically increased her rent. She was unable to afford it, leaving Dylan no other choice but to spend a night in her car. One night quickly looped into several, and it wasn’t long before she had been living in her vehicle for several weeks.

Dylan didn’t want anyone to pity her. She didn’t want them to treat her like a burden. Electra considered Dylan a friend, and despite the sensitive subject, they were ready to help her through it. Dylan promised that her situation wasn’t permanent and that she’d be fine. She wanted to make it on her own, so she took the necessary steps to avoid sleeping in a dangerous place.

Will and Electra asked Dylan not to leave and to stay in the guest room above the garage. Their priority was to make her feel as safe as possible. Electra would be with Will for a few days, so there was no situation where anything inappropriate would happen.

Dylan eventually accepted the offer and thanked the two for their generosity. She even offered to cook and clean in exchange for the temporary housing.
