Will it be la vie en rose, or will hope spring eternal for Carter on The Bold and the Beautiful?

The Bold and the Beautiful’s Carter is determined to marry Hope, but Liam and Hope have bonded again due to the unimaginable trauma they’ve endured at the hands of (another) Dr. Buckingham.

Meanwhile, the stylish and intriguing Daphne Rose has returned to Forrester Creations. Before Daphne had left town months ago, she and Carter had some kisses and flirtatious moments. Now that she's back, and with Hope unsure about marriage, will Carter and Daphne’s undeniable chemistry lead to a romantic future?

A rose by any other name on The Bold and the Beautiful

On The Bold and the Beautiful, Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) first arrived at Forrester Creations as part of Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) plan to create a schism between Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Hope (Annika Noelle) after Carter took over the company under false pretenses.

Waving her perfumed scarves about her, Daphne certainly managed to capture more than Carter’s olfactory attention. But The Nose, whose penetrating gazes and subtle seductions worked enough that even Hope seemed enamored, did not count on falling for Carter herself. Seeing how torn he was between his sincere belief that Hope had been wronged, yet knowing that he had betrayed his best friend, who treated him like a brother, Daphne lent Carter an understanding ear.

Although motivated at least in part by her own feelings, Daphne supported Carter, even staying with him all night as he battled with his conscience (leaving viewers wondering if anything happened that night). When Carter’s feelings for Hope did not wane, despite her best efforts to convince him that Hope was using him, Daphne returned to Paris with a broken heart.

On The Bold and the Beautiful, the heart doesn't lie

One impact that Daphne had on Carter was to help convince him to return the company to Steffy, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), and Eric (John McCook). But Hope could not support Carter's decision. Their relationship hit the rocks when Carter gave the company back without Hope knowing, and then he stayed silent while she bore the brunt of the Forrester’s wrath. However, with Liam's encouragement, Hope overcame Carter’s betrayal and accepted his wedding proposal.

Since then, Daphne came back to L.A. at Steffy's request to continue with her successful fragrance line deal with Forrester. Viewers have not seen Daphne and Carter really interact since her return, but she quickly found that she and Carter still shared a spark — and Daphne's feelings for Carter have not abated in her absence.

Heart in the right place?

Now that Liam's health scare is over, Hope is struggling with her feelings. On one hand, she is engaged to Carter, who wants to marry her as soon as possible. On the other hand, Liam is also proclaiming his love, and she has the support of her father and daughter to put her family back together.

However, Carter is unaware that Daphne first came to Forrester as Steffy’s pawn to undermine his relationship with Hope and help Steffy regain control of Forrester Creations. Their connection may be real, but betrayal and duplicity are not the strongest foundations upon which to build a relationship.

Should The Bold and the Beautiful pair them up now, it will be interesting to see if Carter learns about the original reasons for her presence. Maybe because of his own actions, which he said he knew were wrong, he might just put that unfortunate chapter to rest.

If Hope takes off her ring as Liam would like, and ends her relationship with Carter, Liam is ready and waiting with open arms. He claims to have finally seen the light about bouncing back and forth between her and Steffy and is ready to make a lifelong commitment to their family. But if Hope did follow her heart and went back to Liam, would she be able to handle seeing Carter with Daphne at the office? Or would she become the one who becomes indecisive, keeping a placeholder on both Liam's and Carter's hearts?
