As Maggie Horton Kiriakis, Days of our Lives star Suzanne Rogers is tasked with playing peacemaker between Tony DiMera and her late husband's family, as the two are out for corporate blood. For her performance as the formidable Maggie, Soap Central awards Rogers our Performer of the Week honors for DAYS.
Days of our Lives, Suzanne Rogers shines!

After getting wind of the lawsuit Tony (Thaao Penghlis) was filing against the late Victor's (John Aniston) heirs, Maggie hightailed it over to the DiMera mansion to confront Tony, a man she’s known for decades. Maggie showed she meant business when she used Tony's remote to cancel his opera-listening session, and she plopped the remote down on a chair.
Rogers, who won the inaugural Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Daytime Emmy in 1978 for playing Maggie on Days of our Lives, crossed her arms as she faced Tony, prepared to go up against him over the lawsuit he filed against Titan. She pointed out, as Victor’s widow, that the lawsuit affects her directly.
“I figured as two old friends, perhaps you’d do me the courtesy to explain your demands directly to my face,” Maggie asserted.
Nothing about living on her family farm as a young woman or all those years of being married to Mickey could have prepared Maggie for getting in the trenches in the corporate world in which the DiMera and Kiriakis clans are so used to playing.
However, the Days of our Lives fan favorite brings a great deal of strength and a no-nonsense approach to her character. If something’s amiss, she’s going to grab the bull by the horns. “You want DiMera and Titan,” Maggie asked Tony, noting that it wasn’t fair when he told her yes, he wanted both.
Tony dismissed Maggie’s feelings about what Victor would have wanted as immaterial if they were brought into a courtroom. Rogers let that remark wash over her before responding. “Tony, you are so much better than this,” Maggie said. “What you’re doing is so petty and spiteful.”
Once Tony explained he was taking action against Victor’s heirs to honor his father’s (Stefano) memory, Maggie revealed that she owed it to Victor’s memory to try to stop him.
Battlelines drawn

Tony suggested to his old friend that they not be adversarial. After all, he could be quite ruthless. “Well, so can I,” Maggie shot back, her arms folded once again in defiance. Tony argued his case, urging Maggie to convince her family to sell to him to avoid an all-out war.
Realizing she was only going to get so far with Tony, Maggie marched over to Titan and interrupted Xander (Paul Telfer), Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier), Alex (Robert Scott Wilson), and Brady (Eric Martsolf), who were having a loud argument.
Rogers reminded viewers just how strong Maggie as evidenced by her standing up to these four men, getting them to take the temperature down in the room.
Maggie asked the quartet why they weren’t acting as a united front. Whenever a character attempts to leave a scene, as Brady started to, he can be stopped with either words or a physical move. Rogers chose to do both. She put her hands out to stop Brady from exiting while using words, too.
“No one is going anywhere,” Maggie told Brady, hastening to add that this was not the time to back down. It was time to fight. “We have to do it together,” she added.
“Enough, Xander,” Maggie chastised her son-in-law. “You said you wanted to be a leader. Now, act like one. Don’t drive away your allies – especially your family just because they don’t agree with you.”
Maggie added that while she loved Victor, she acknowledged that he couldn’t see past his own ego. She implored the four men to put aside their differences and work together. Xander and Philip agreed.
“Good," Maggie said. “Then let’s show Tony DiMera that the Kiriakis family isn’t going down without a fight.” Following her speech, the Days of our Lives veteran had Maggie give an adorable smile that showed her pleasure over getting these men all on the same page! That's no easy feat!
Brava to Rogers for showing Maggie’s strength and her smarts! Victor would be very proud of his wife for doing everything she can to maintain his legacy!
