It seems like we are going to watch Cameron Diaz in yet another new Netflix action comedy named Bad Day, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
After the overwhelming commercial success of her comeback film, Back In Action, it looks like there is no going back for the actor in terms of exploring the genre further. However, upon hearing about her upcoming film in the same genre, it seems like many fans are not too happy about it.
Let us find out more about the fans' reactions to Cameron Diaz's forthcoming action comedy, Bad Day.
Here is what fans say about Cameron Diaz's next act, Bad Day
As per reports in The Hollywood Reporter, it is revealed that Cameron Diaz is slated to star in the upcoming Netflix action comedy, Bad Day.
According to the outlet, the film will be directed by Jake Szymanski, who has previously helmed films including Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016), The Package (2018), and the Peabody Award-winning series Jury Duty (2023-present).
Bad Day serves as a comic interpretation of Michael Douglas's crime drama film Falling Down (1993), which looks into the story of trials and tribulations faced by a father before striving to arrive at his daughter's birthday party. The film is directed by Joel Schumacher.
In this upcoming action comedy, the film centers around a single mother who is thrown multiple curveballs on an unfateful day. She deals with those whilst navigating her way to fulfill the vow that she has made to her daughter.
However, when fans heard about the upcoming film, it was received with criticism, mostly because of Diaz's comeback film, Back In Action. The Netflix action comedy film, despite its commercial success, received a polarized response from the critics and audience alike. It has garnered a poor IMDb score of 5.6/10 and a rating of only 30% on Rotten Tomatoes. Even its current Popcornmeter score is lukewarm, scoring up to 60%.
On Reddit, a post made by x/First-Loss-8540 on r/TheBigPicture about Cameron Diaz's Bad Day film, a user by the name x/HOBTT27 writes:
"Came out of retirement, got a taste of that sweet, sweet Netflix action-comedy money, and decided to come back for more.
I can’t knock the hustle, though it’d be nice to see her do something with a little more life if she’s back into acting. My girlfriend was watching The Other Woman a few months ago; the movie itself was pretty mediocre but I was really impressed by Diaz & Leslie Mann throwing the movie on their shoulders and trying to turn a turd into something genuinely fun & watchable."

Some comments from the audience were also critical about Back In Action, along with the current films Netflix has been producing. Under a Reddit post made by x/Task_Force-191 on r/movies, a comment thread between two users discussed this issue. A user named x/kpeds45 writes:
Her Netflix movie with Jamie Foxx was embarrassing for all involved. Can't Netflix spend a little more in writing a script that doesn't make you cringe? At times it felt like a stealth spy kids remake, but it was about the adults, not the kids.
Followed by which, x/microslasher responds:
One of my coworkers said it was a good movie. I watched it and it was terrible. That first action sequence was awful. And the writing i turned it off shortly after.
But people like it and watch it. So Netflix keeps making them. Can't knock on that business model. People keep going to McDonald's and its terrible for you. Me omw to get a mcgriddle haha

Under the same post, more fans are engaging in more discussions about the actor's collaboration with Netflix, as well as the company's recent approach to the kind of roles they are offering to experienced actresses.
A comment written by x/The_Swarm22 says:
I know Diaz has been out of the game for like a decade but are these Netflix movies the only offers she’s getting now?
To which x/goldfish_11 responds by highlighting the fact that Cameron Diaz has signed a contract for two films with Netflix, as the comment goes:
She signed a two movie deal with Netflix as part of her comeback. The movie with Jamie Foxx was the first. This is movie #2.
Then, a user by the name x/uwill1der writes that Netflix has been offering substantial roles to experienced actresses, as they write:
Netflix has been a leader in offering older actresses meatier roles than other studios. Thats why peple like Charlize Theron, Uma Thurman, and Cameron Diaz are signing on

Contrary to these comments, some people are also excited about Cameron Diaz's Bad Day, as they have enjoyed Back In Action. Under a post written by x/First-Loss-8540 on r/blankies, a user by the name x/j11430 writes:
Oh that’s great, because Back in Action was so good
