Aunt Gladys is all ready to knock on your doors to haunt your life, as Zach Cregger's Weapons receives a digital release date. The film will soon be available to buy or rent digitally online.
For viewers not in the loop about the project, this mystery horror film tells a small-town story about a group of kids who mysteriously disappear one night at 2:17 a.m. They all belong to the same class. So, the locals blame a school teacher responsible for their well-being. Julia Garner plays the said teacher, while Josh Brolin plays a disgruntled parent of one of the missing kids.
Cregger, who also wrote the script, follows these events through multiple perspectives in a non-linear approach. That's why we also get a personal account of all the events through the eyes of its characters, who may or may not be reliable narrators. It all adds up to a deliciously interwoven plot, which twists and turns till the end, leading to a memorable climax.
Weapons opened in theaters on August 8 to critical acclaim and became a major box office success. Still, some Zach Cregger fans were wondering when it would be available to watch at home.
Here's when Weapons will be released digitally and what fans can expect from it
Warner Bros. Entertainment reveals that Zach Cregger's Weapons will be released digitally on September 9. So, it will be available to rent or purchase on online platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, or Fandango at Home.
Some initial reports from Forbes suggested that the film might be released digitally on September 23, but the studio has made it available at home within a month of its theatrical release.
Besides the film's final cut as released in theaters, the digital release will also include a few additional featurettes.
Per TheWrap, the three bonus additions will offer videos dubbed "Weapons: Texture of Terror" (detailing thematic details), "Director Zach Cregger: Making Horror Personal" (the director's account of the film's creative roots), and "Weaponized: The Cast of Weapons" (the ensemble speaking about the film).
Fans of physical media don't need to fret, since the film will also be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and UHD formats, according to TheWrap, at online and physical retailers.
Weapons is one of the standout horror projects of 2025, and its box office success is only a part of its success
Zach Cregger's new mystery horror is his follow-up to his 2022 genre film Barbarian, which offered a first glimpse into his filmmaking chops. It also allowed him to become one of the promising figures in the genre from the recent past. With his latest film, he joins the likes of Jordan Peele, Ari Aster, and Robert Eggers as a recent standout horror filmmaker.
Cregger also joins a long list of filmmakers who struck gold with this genre through their creative approach.
His Weapons becomes the latest addition to a list of standout horror titles, apart from Ryan Coogler's Sinners, Michael Shanks' Together, Danny and Michael Philippou's Bring Her Back, Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later, Emilie Blichfeldt's The Ugly Stepsister, and more.
