First official clip from The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants has been revealed

An exclusive clip from the upcoming film The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants has just been dropped by Fandango. So, get ready to dive into the underwater chaos of Bikini Bottom once again!

This fourth film in the series is helmed by Derek Drymon and is all set to make its big splash on December 19, 2025. In the animated comedy film, we shall witness our favorite SpongeBob in yet another absurd and hilarious journey. This time, he confronts the ghost of the Flying Dutchman as he uncovers long-buried secrets beneath the ocean floor.

SpongeBob is out on a heroic journey in the exclusive clip of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

In the very first exclusive clip of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, it opens with a conflicted SpongeBob holding the Swashbuckler certificate and utters:

"Um… I know I can do this. I just need a chance to prove it!"

As he finishes the line, he stomps hard on the floor. It was so hard that it led to the opening of the deep tunnel, radiating green light. As the door opens, SpongeBob and Patrick peek into it and see a green glowing dot of light. Patrick speaks in a spooky voice:

"Mysterious glow. Well, that's weird."

Suddenly, a strong wind sweeps away the certificate off SpongeBob's hands. It suggests that there is some enigmatic energy inside the tunnel. SpongeBob, who was initially scared, is hit with a burst of optimism and excitement.

He sees this as an opportunity to go deep in the ocean, almost as if his heroic moment has finally arrived. As Patrick too gets excited, SpongeBob strikes a funny pose, and his starfish pal tries to mimic that, but in vain!

SpongeBob says:

"The hero's journey starts with one squish."

With a gallant spirit, SpongeBob takes the plunge to enter the tunnel. He literally gets squeezed and squished into a mess as he makes his way down through the narrow tunnel. He and Patrick finally reach an unknown, dark place.

As SpongeBob switches on the light, the duo witnesses a blue water body swirling. A gigantic ship jutted out of the waters, and there it is — the eerie presence of the Flying Dutchman, with thunder roaring around. This scares SpongeBob a lot. He is scared to such an extent that a brick drops out of him, giving a literal representation of his fear.

As he looks at the materialization of his dread, the goofy SpongeBob hides the brick and gasps:

"Oh! My lucky brick."
