Charlie Sheen's father, Martin Sheen, is expressing his thoughts about his son's promotion for his upcoming memoir, The Book of Sheen. In his upcoming book, Charlie tells all, revealing all the dirty secrets and behind-the-scenes drama that shaped his professional and personal life. Charlie Sheen's way of life was not openly accepted by his father.

In a recent exclusive from Radar Online, Martin Sheen said that he is not happy with how his son is promoting his upcoming book. In his words, he is shocked:

"...how Charlie brags about all the drugs and hookers he's had."

He is asking his son to:

"grow up and get serious for once in his life."

Charlie Sheen describes his father's "love" in his upcoming memoir

Charlie Sheen talks about his experiences in a light-hearted manner, making it seem like it is all fun and jokes. An insider source shared how Charlie is dealing with the content of his book promotion before its release. They said:

"Charlie's enjoying the excitement surrounding his book and taking a victory lap for all his atrocious behavior. He's certainly not apologizing for [anything]. He's making jokes about what was a dark time, not only for him, but for his loved ones, his dad especially."

Speaking about the time when Martin Sheen turned him over to the police for parole violation after his overdose in 1998, Charlie Sheen said:

"It felt like the biggest betrayal you can possibly endure... I saw it as love eventually, but in the moment, it's like in the book when my bodyguard comes to the door and he says, 'The U.S. Marshals are on the way. We're leaving in 5.'"

The insider continued to speak about the manner in which Charlie revealed the events in the past in his book. They said:

"Charlie may write that he realized his dad turning him in to the cops for a parole violation was an act of love, but he makes it seem like a big joke... The way he took a swipe at Martin was insensitive to say the least."

They added:

"Martin doesn't want to deprive Charlie of his success for having written the book... But he wants to see Charlie own up to his mistakes and act in a more professional manner."

Having said this, Martin Sheen has always been supportive of his son throughout all the highs and lows. He was there for Charlie during his sex, drug, and alcohol addiction. He was also there for his son when he was diagnosed with HIV.

According to the insider source, making a joke of his father's love seemed cruel.

Martin Sheen's disappointment in Charlie's book promotion comes from his son's light-hearted approach to serious past struggles. While he continues to support Charlie, Martin hopes his son will take accountability and show maturity rather than turning painful memories into jokes.
