James Woods has continued to bash sacked show host Jimmy Kimmel on X. In a September 20, 2025, tweet on X, the Once Upon a Time in America actor described the 57-year-old host, recently fired by the ABC Network, as a “bitter ratings-starved comic.”

Woods tweeted in response to an earlier post by @bennyjohnson who alleged that he was informed by local ABC affiliates that the Jimmy Kimmel show didn’t have viewership and stations were being forced to air it. Johnson opined that the late-night talk show was bound to collapse at any moment, and the Charlie Kirk controversy gave it the push it needed.

James Woods reiterated Johnson’s points, stating:

"Final word: Jimmy Kimmel wasn't fired. He was simply canceled. He was a bitter, ratings-starved comic who wasn't remotely funny, and his employers were tired of hemorrhaging money supporting a loser.,”

Woods continued comparing the contradicting news about Kimmel to the “Big Lie” propaganda spread by Nazis:

"Short history lesson: The Big Lie was a favorite tool of real Nazis, a ploy invented by Joseph Goebbels. For those last few of you still unfamiliar with the concept, the idea is that if you tell a lie long enough, eventually it will simply be believed. You know, like the Russia hoax, perpetrated by Adam Schiff in our country, for example."

Jimmy Kimmel’s eponymous talk show was removed indefinitely from ABC on September 17, 2025, after the host made controversial comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk earlier in the week. Kimmel, during his monologue, seemingly alleged that Kirk’s shooter was a MAGA supporter:

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

James Woods in a September 18, 2025, tweet, initially feigned support for Kimmel by stating that he was “heartbroken to see the way he has been treated,” before adding in a concluding statement:

“Just kidding, Jimbo. Eat Sh**”

The actor also posted a clip of Minnesota governor Tim Walz calling Kimmel’s firing “North Korea-style stuff” that goes against American values. Woods wrote alongside the video:

"Guys, enough is enough. Kimmel was fired because his show was a massive money loser. He was supposed to be funny, and no one was laughing. It couldn’t be simpler,”
