Terry Gene Bollea, professionally known by his wrestling name Hulk Hogan, died on July 24 at the age of 71. The wrestler was taken to a hospital from his residence in Clearwater, Florida, in the morning. According to TMZ, he died of a heart attack at around 11:17 am.

TMZ was first to report the news, followed by an official announcement on Hogan's Instagram account that stated:

"It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend. Our beloved Terry Bollea, known worldwide as Hulk Hogan, passed away today surrounded by his loved ones."

The Clearwater Police Department said in a statement that Terry was:

"experiencing a serious medical related issue"

Last month, American radio host Todd Clem on his Bubba the Love Sponge released a YouTube video titled EXCLUSIVE: It's Not Looking Good for Hulk Hogan, where he said in the livestream:

"If you did some sniffing around you might find him (Hulk) in a hospital near you. And it's not good. I got some pretty reliable information that there are phone calls being made to various family members about getting to town to come say your goodbyes."

Although he claimed his sources were credible, TMZ quickly dismissed the rumor as false, saying that Hogan had been hospitalized for neck and back problems.

A new update on Hulk Hogan’s health emerged just days before his death

While Hogan's fans were relieved after TMZ debunked the rumor, reassuring fans that he was safe and stable, a statement reportedly attributed to his manager, Jimmy Hart, on July 22 left fans worrying about Hogan's health. As per the New York Post, Todd Clem, in the same radio show, claimed that Hart was telling people that:

"Hogan’s not doing well, he can’t speak, his trachea or whatever’s damaged and he’s having problems and it does not look good."

However, Hogan’s team dismissed the rumors, and Hart himself tweeted that Hogan was doing well healthwise.

Hulk Hogan had undergone multiple surgeries throughout his career. In a 2023 statement to Muscle and Health, he said:

"I’d had to endure 25 procedures, including ten to my back, facial operations from being kicked, knee and hip replacements and abdominal and shoulder surgeries"

A few weeks ago, rumors also suggested that Hogan was in a coma. However, his wife, Sky Daily, dismissed them, saying he had recovered from his surgeries and was in good health with a healthy heart.

According to the New York Post, Hulk Hogan also struggled with alcohol addiction at one point. However, he reportedly gave it up around 2023.

The news has come as a shock to his fans and the wrestling industry, which is sending its tributes and prayers for the late wrestler.
