Marie Claire's Halie LeSavage recently interviewed celebrity couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco. In an article titled "The Specific Allure of Alison Brie," the couple discusses both their professional and personal lives, including their latest project Together. But one of the biggest highlights of the interview is the portion in which Brie discusses her plans for the future.
There, the actress who is known for playing Annie Edison in Community revealed that she is indeed planning to direct a movie soon. It must be noted that as of now, the project is still in the writing stage. Once that's done, the untitled horror project co-written by her and Alice Stanley Jr. will probably move forward. After describing her directorial debut as "female-forward," Alison Brie said:
"While we were writing it, I felt like I was writing it to direct it. I could see every shot in my head... I think women carry a lot of self-doubt and we have a desire to make everything perfect before we attempt something, or we learn everything we can learn. You want to really check the boxes and go, am I prepared for this? And at a certain point you have to just take the leap and believe in yourself."
What do Alison Brie's words mean?
Brie's experience on the set of Together with her partner Dave Franco was pleasant. This experience has encouraged the Community actress to take up the director's chair and get behind the camera. Furthermore, this horror project has also brought out the actress's writer side, which only has cinephiles and fans excited.
It must be noted that Together, which is directed by Michael Shanks, wrapped up in a matter of 22 days, making it one of the shortest turnaround times. Alison Brie, reflecting on those 22 days, revealed what she took as a lesson from the set of Together:
“Going into this job, I thought, there's no time for that bullshit. You know everything you need to know. It was actually really freeing and really fun that I was like, there's no time to overthink anything, so don't. Let it rip, and Dave did the same. That's the mentality I want to have in life now.”
Based on this quote above and what she said about self-doubts while talking about her directorial debut, it seems that she is going to take the lessons she took from the horror movie that was released on July 30, 2025, and she will apply them to the set of the untitled horror project she is helming.
What is Alison Brie and Dave Franco's latest project about?
As mentioned before, Together was released on July 30, 2025, across the US. The acclaimed horror movie follows a couple who have recently moved to the countryside as Brie's Millie Wilson gets a job in a school. They encounter a mysterious force that wreaks terror in their lives. The synopsis for the movie reads:
"Years into their relationship, Tim and Millie (Dave Franco and Alison Brie) find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country, abandoning all that is familiar in their lives except each other. With tensions already flaring, a nightmarish encounter with a mysterious, unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and their flesh."
