Veteran American actor and filmmaker Robert Redford passed away in his sleep at his home in Sundance, Utah, on September 16. He was 89. Cindi Berger, the chief executive of his publicity firm, Rogers & Cowan PMK, announced his death to The New York Times.

Sundance Film Festival founder Robert Redford is survived by his second wife, German painter Sibylle Szaggars, his two daughters, Shauna Redford and Amy Redford, whom he shared with his first wife, Lola Van Wagenen, and his seven grandchildren.

Amy Redford, 54, is Robert Redford’s fourth and youngest child and his second daughter. She followed in the footsteps of her father and is an actress, producer, and director, who was married and divorced twice, first to Mark Mann and later to Matt August, according to Hello! Magazine.

During a 2008 interview with IndieWire, Amy shared that as a kid, she witnessed her dad make films with “an extraordinary cast of characters that came together to make it happen,” which attracted her to the world of entertainment.

“I found myself drawn to the nomadic and creative life that that implied... What led me to actually having the opportunity to do it was a combination of luck, timing, and stubbornness,” she added.

According to the Famous People website, after studying dramatic arts at San Francisco State University, Robert Redford’s daughter attended the University of Colorado Boulder and took theater lessons in London. Amy made her television debut in a 1998 episode of the CBS crime drama Dellaventura.

Speaking to the New York Times in 2008, Amy Redford shared she was “able to talk to my dad in a way a lot of people can’t.”

“He still drives me nuts, he’s still my dad, but I have to say, in light of what his universe was, he had his eye on the ball in terms of having kids, and part of that was being raised in Manhattan,” she added.

Amy Redford is a mom of three daughters, Eden August, born in 2008, and twins, born in 2010, whom she shares with her ex-husband and theater director Matt August. They were together from 2008 to 2022. She is now a single mother who resides in Salt Lake City, Utah.
