On Friday, June 27, 2025, Matt Reeves hinted that the script for The Batman: Part II was complete by posting a photo of the script with him and Mattson Tomlin. Tomlin, who co-wrote the sequel along with Reeves, performed the same duty on the first movie, The Batman, as well. The news of the script's completion had fans waiting for the sequel in a celebratory mood.
However, the same photo also had fans speculating about what the movie will be about. We already know that Colin Farrell's "Oz" Cobb/The Penguin is returning after taking over Gotham's underworld in the finale of the acclaimed 2024 HBO Max series. However, there is one character that fans believe will make their debut in The Batman: Part II: Robin, the Boy Wonder.
Fans believe that Batman's iconic sidekick will be a part of the second movie because of Matt Reeves' caption on his post.
Matt Reeves' latest The Batman: Part II update explained:
Posting an image of the script for The Batman: Part II, with him and co-writer Mattson Tomlin in the background, Reeves' caption for this post read "Partners in Crime (Fighters) 🦇🦇🦇." The usage of the word "crime fighters" had fans speculate if Robin is in the sequel. For the uninitiated, Robin is Batman's young sidekick, and the kid behind the mask is someone whom Bruce Wayne adopts.
Ever since Robin's first appearance in Batman comics in Detective Comics #38 (April 1940), the mantle has been taken over by several characters like Richard "Dick" Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown (for a while), and Damian Wayne (Bruce's biological son). Thus, even if Robin were to be a part of The Batman: Part II, we don't know which version of the character will be a part of the movie.
There are theories that Mayor Don Mitchell's (the man who is killed by the Riddler at the beginning of the 2022 movie) sons might be one of this universe's Robins. It's not surprising Bruce sees a bit of himself in the boy throughout the 2022 movie. It also must be noted that the boy's story combines two Robins.
Like Richard Grayson, the boy experiences the death of a loved one (Richard loses both his parents), but unlike the first Robin, he is from a wealthy family, like the third Robin, Tim Drake. Richard's parents were circus performers who were killed by a mob boss in a live circus performance.
Bruce Wayne, who is in attendance in the audience, adopts the young Richard and even trains him to become Batman's sidekick, Robin. However, the mayor's son is not the only possible candidate for this universe's version of Robin. The opening scene of 2022's The Batman also introduces another possible candidate.
Some believe that Jay Lycurgo's character is one of the Robins:

British actor Jay Lycurgo plays an unnamed gang member in the opening scene of The Batman, whom Pattinson's Caped Crusader has to fight. However, unlike his fellow gang members, Lycurgo's unnamed character is hinted to be someone who isn't entirely on board with his gang's violent crimes. Thus, Batman spares him, and that's the last we see of this unnamed character.
However, as Lycurgo played this role, he was already playing Tim Drake in the third season of Titans, which streamed on HBO Max in 2021. This is why many believe that this actor might be a possible Robin, but this time, Lycurgo might be Jason Todd, the second Robin.
