Jimmy Kimmel’s show contract was reportedly set to end in May 2026, according to CNN. This left Jimmy with only a few months on his Disney deal before talks were expected to begin later this year about a possible extension.

According to a source statement to Page Six, the CEO of Disney, Bob Iger,

"doesn’t want to be at war with Donald Trump right now, just as he has stabilized Disney… I don’t know what they are planning, but maybe the uproar is so loud Jimmy can’t come back."

As per the outlet, Disney’s Dana Walden was the one who reportedly told him his show was going on an indefinite break after his comments on Charlie Kirk.

On September 18, speaking of the same, a source told Page Six:

"Jimmy is pissed over the decision to suspend him and the show and he isn’t going to take this lightly, as he is actively looking for ways to get out of his contract. This is the last straw and Jimmy is now looking to forever break his relationship with ABC forever."

Why was Jimmy Kimmel Live! suspended?

Donald Trump, in his recent press statement, according to the BBC, said:

"I have read someplace that the networks were 97% against me, again, 97% negative, and yet I won and easily, all seven swing states [in last year's election]. They give me only bad publicity, press. I mean, they're getting a licence. I would think maybe their licence should be taken away."

As per a source statement to CNN:

"This isn’t just about ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’ It’s about all of ABC and all of the shows and all employees"

A longtime TV news producer also told CNN:

"There is no more terrifying circumstance for a broadcast entity than the threat of an FCC fine, or worse, that the agency could move to revoke the stations’ broadcast licenses."

Kimmel has been making remarks about Trump for quite a while now. Kimmel reportedly planned a monologue on Wednesday, but Disney urged caution and soon put his show on indefinite hold.

While Kimmel’s show has been pulled, a source said the company is happy to have him back if he tones things down to protect the brand and the company.
