In the trailer for the upcoming action comedy London Calling, actor Josh Duhamel's character is seen being endowed with the task of babysitting the son of a gangster.
The freshly released official trailer for the film is a thoroughly humorous ride. It gives us an idea that Duhamel's character, Tommy Ward, has absconded from the UK and has shifted to Los Angeles. However, during his stay in the US, he has been given the responsibility of "shaping" the teenage son of a gangster into a man.
Let us know more about Josh Duhamel's forthcoming film, London Calling.
Josh Duhamel and Jeremy Ray Taylor are seen sharing some hilarious moments in the trailer of London Calling
In the official trailer for London Calling, we get a glimpse of Josh Duhamel's character, Tommy Ward's history, which has forced him to leave the UK and go to Los Angeles. It is revealed that he has killed the cousin of the ganglord Freddy Darby's wife. Tommy Ward used to work under Freddy in London.
He also has a son in London whom he has not met for a whole year. So, Tommy Ward is now striving hard to go back to London. However, this journey does not seem to be a cakewalk at all. When Tommy Ward shares his troubles with a gangster named Benson Abrams (essayed by Rick Hoffman), he hands over a huge responsibility to Ward in exchange for enabling him to go back to London safely.
Benson introduces Tommy Ward to his teenage son Julian (played by Jeremy Ray Taylor) and asks Ward to make him into a 'man,' which means Tommy will now teach Julian to follow in the footsteps of his gangster father. Julian seems to be a boy who has never done any violent activities. Funnily enough, there is a scene in the trailer when Tommy asks Julian if he has ever partaken in any real-life violence. And just the next scene cuts to a sequence of Julian hitting a man in self-defense but with a toilet paper roll!
Throughout the trailer for London Calling, we witness numerous hilarious scenes between Tommy and Julian, where it is clear that Julian is a complete misfit in the world of crime. And to make matters worse, Tommy's earlier boss, Freddy Darby, ends up in Los Angeles as well!
There are also glimpses of complications rising between the unexpected friendship of Tommy and Julian when we see Benson warning his son by saying:
"Tommy's not your friend, Julian"
However, eventually, it seems like the duo's friendship goes a long way. It is hinted that Julian finally gets into the shoes of becoming a hitman ('man' in the words of Benson) as they both partake in high-stakes shooting sequences.
London Calling is helmed by Allan Ungar, who has previously directed films including Tapped Out (2014), Gridlocked (2015), and Bandit (2022). The film is scheduled to make its theatrical release on 19th September.
