Rick Hoffman made his much-anticipated appearance as Louis Litt in Suits LA Episode 12, Angry Sylvester. The actor reprised his role six years after the Suits finale, and left the audience excited with a heavy dose of nostalgia.
Louis has always been famous for his quirky personality, impulsive behavior, and inappropriate sexual innuendos, which continued in the spin-off series as he got into a war of words with Stuart Lane.
Rick Hoffman has now talked about how he felt playing his iconic role after all these years. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor revealed that when showrunner Aaron Korsh approached him to reprise his role in Suits LA, he was initially surprised:
“I was surprised that Aaron called me early on in the first season because, as I’ve always said, with any show, the actors need to find their own chemistry.”

Rick Hoffman added that though he was surprised to be approached for the project as he felt Suits LA was based on a totally different firm, he trusted Aaron Korsh and was excited to accept the offer:
“Obviously, you’re dealing with another firm completely, but at some point, I’m sure Aaron had in the back of his head: ‘Which characters would make sense in this new world?’”
“When I got the call, I was naturally excited and surprised, and thrilled to say yes. We have always discussed working together to some degree of something ‘Louis-y.’ We just didn’t know ultimately how, so this was a great excuse.”
Hoffman is the third member from the Suits cast to return in the spin-off after Gabriel Macht and David Costabile, who reprised their roles as Harvey Specter and Daniel Hardman, respectively.
In Suits LA Episode 12, Louis Litt has a chance encounter with Stuart Lane, his spin-off counterpart, at a hostility mitigation program. While the two initially get at loggerheads, they eventually realize they have more things in common than they thought and end up having a good time together. In the end, Louis tells Stuart that he’ll be available for him at any time he needs.
Talking about the experience of revisiting Louis after six years, Hoffman said he is happy about the revelation that the attorney is running his own law firm, and is happily married to Sheila, with whom he shares two kids:
“When Louis volunteers at that moment where they’re sharing what’s going on [in their lives] at anger management, he pretty much tells you that he’s got the best wife, he’s got two children, he’s running his own firm.”
“I didn’t expect the two children — that was cool, but not meaning that that was new news [to me]. I had always known, based on my discussions with Aaron of how we’d seen him, that he’s still in love with Sheila [played by Rachael Harris] and running the firm.”
Hoffman was confirmed to make only one appearance in Suits LA, and now that the show has been canceled after one season, it is unlikely that he will again be seen as Louis Litt in the near future. However, the actor is still open to playing the character as he feels it changed his life.
Suits LA series finale will be aired on NBC on May 18, 2025.
