“Atlantians will always find a way.”
Another user commented on how the fans found their way of having fun, writing:
“The energy is unmatched. the concert didn’t happen but the main event clearly did. These fans said ‘no stage, no problem’ and built their own sh*t.”
Sharing a similar sentiment, another online commentator said:
“This chaotic glow-up slaps harder than the actual show would've… corporate killjoys just handed YB free viral gold. I bet this will spawn the tour's wildest TikTok era.”
Commenting on the fireworks, a platform user wrote:
“They just had fireworks on standby.”
Another X user mentioned:
“Concert canceled, but the city said ‘we outside anyway’”
Massive security presence at NBA YoungBoy’s New Orleans concert
NBA YoungBoy’s October 19 concert in New Orleans had over 400 police officials at the Smoothie King Center. According to Fox 8, the massive deployment was ordered following intelligence from federal authorities and other cities.
The police said they had many safety plans, including officers on foot, horses, and bikes, and special units, drones, armored vehicles, and bright patrol lights around downtown and the French Quarter.
Moreover, social media reports claimed that people who were not big fans of the rapper planned to attend the concert. The report also mentions that the Atlanta concert was called off following a clash with police officials in the city.
One of NBA YoungBoy's concert-goers told the outlet:
“I’m glad they got a lot of security out here because there’s a lot of stuff going on. I’m just glad that they have a lot of security to protect me. We feel safe.”
Sharing a similar sentiment, another attendee said:
“I mean, he’s a young kid, he’s making a bunch of other young kids happy. He’s been in trouble before, but I don’t think it’s to the point where they need 400 extra police here. I’ve been to other cities where this show been going on, and nothing has happened.”
Deputy Superintendent Hans Ganthier said they were a bit worried, so they made sure to be better prepared than usual, with more officers and safety measures than for a regular event.
