Howard Stern and Andy Cohen have made headlines once again.

On September 8, reports came about on the internet claiming that Stern quit SiriusXM after two decades, and the person to replace him was Cohen. However, these reports are false, and it was a prank by the two TV personalities.

The Instagram account of Stern’s show posted a clip from the episode, with the message:

“Andy Cohen takes over SiriusXM’s Channel 100.”

To everybody’s surprise, in the video, Cohen said:

“Well, good morning, everybody. This is, I know, not the voice that you expected to hear. This is not the voice that you probably wanted to hear, but it is I, Andy Cohen, and this is our first day broadcasting on Andy100.”

He went on:

“I know that you are expecting a big announcement from Howard, and this actually not how things were meant to go. There’s been a lot of talk about what’s going to happen with Howard. Is he fired? I don’t know how much I am allowed to say except that he’s not here and I am.”

According to The Associated Press, Howard Stern then joined Andy Cohen and broke the ice, thanking him for pulling the prank. The news comes amid tensions between Stern and SiriusXM with regard to his contract renewal. Stern said:

“Here’s the truth: SiriusXM and my team have been talking about how we go forward in the future. They’ve approached me, they’ve sat down with me like they normally do, and they’re fantastic.”

Andy Cohen then welcomed his co-host, John Hill, who praised him. Hill then asked him how it felt joining the show, and Cohen said it was like a dream coming true, although he expected it to be different.

He said Howard Stern and the executive team at SiriusXM decided to break ties with each other. In his message to Howard, Cohen said he loved him and hoped he could heal properly and make a big return. Cohen went on:

“I just want all of Howard’s fans to know you will have a home on Andy 100. There will still be a lot of Housewives talk, Bachelor talk. Oh wow, the phone lines are lit up.”

A person named Paul from Long Island called, surprised at the development on the show. Paul said there was no goodbye and asked if this was all the fans got. Andy Cohen said that despite whatever happened with Howard Stern, he was grateful to be there. He said the listeners will still have fun with him, despite Howard’s absence.

In another recent Instagram post on the show’s account, Howard Stern said rumors about him and Robin are false. He said he was mad that he could not leave the show. Although he planned to retire, he couldn’t anymore, fearing that critics would say he was laid off.

He said that despite the fake news circulating, what made him happy was that many companies showed interest in him and offered him to work with them. Nonetheless, Howard Stern said he was elated working with SiriusXM.
