Miley Cyrus, 32, is gearing up for the release of her new record, Something Beautiful, on May 30. The artist, once popular in the 2000s for her role as Hannah Montana, is also a well-known pop star with songs like 'Wrecking Ball', 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart', etc, in her discography. Years ago, when she was a teen star, Miley also opened up about her heart condition, tachycardia.

Miley Cyrus talks about her ongoing health struggles

On the May 21 episode of The Zane Lowe Show, Miley Cyrus shared that when she was hosting her New Year's Eve special with SNL's Lorne Michaels, her ovarian cyst ruptured, causing excruciating pain. Since at the time, they did not know the cause, she continued with the show despite the pain, as reported by People Magazine.

Miley Cyrus shared:

“I had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with [Lorne Michaels] when I was doing my New Year’s show. I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture. We didn’t know exactly what was going on so we did it.”

In the same episode, she also talked about her Reinke's edema, for which she underwent surgery in 2019. According to a Billboard article at the time, post-surgery, she stopped smoking and sobered up.

According to People magazine, in the May 21 episode, Cyrus also opened up about having the large polyp on her vocal cord, which is responsible for her voice sounding the way it does and referred to as part of her "unique anatomy." She stated:

"So I have this very large polyp on my vocal cord, which has given me a lot of the tone and the texture that has made me who I am, but it's extremely difficult to perform with because it's like running a marathon with ankle weights on,"

Cyrus also light-heartedly added that she cannot maintain anonymity with a mask and cap because her voice is easily recognised. But, despite the cons, she shared that she is not thinking about removing the polyp, even though the condition makes it harder for her to perform at times,

"because the chance of waking up from a surgery and not sounding like myself is a probability."

Coming to her heart condition, according to an article by Stuff, Cyrus had once shared that when she was 16 years old, she suffered from tachycardia—a heart condition which causes her heart rate to exceed the standard.

She further shared in her autobiography, Miles to Go, that

"The type of tachycardia I have isn't dangerous. It won't hurt me, but it does bother me. There is never a time onstage when I'm not thinking about my heart."
