Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's legal trial was a high-profile defamation case. The 62-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star sued Heard over a 2018 op-ed claiming he was abusive.

Recalling the controversial saga during a recent conversation with the Sunday Times, as Entertainment Weekly reported, he admitted having "no regrets" about the much-talked-about defamation trial with his ex-wife.

Looking back at how his personal life was discussed, he opened up during the interview, sharing,

"Look, it had gone far enough. I knew I’d have to semi-eviscerate myself. Everyone was saying, 'It’ll go away!' But I can’t trust that. What will go away? The fiction pawned around the f**king globe? No it won’t."

Connecting the dots with the highly publicized globally, Johnny Depp further added he called himself "pre-MeToo." He further continued,

"I was like a crash test dummy for MeToo. It was before Harvey Weinstein. And I sponged it, took it all in. And so I wanted from the hundreds of people I’ve met in that industry to see who was playing it safe."

A look at Johnny Depp reflecting on the Amber Heard defamation trial

While discussing what happened during the judicial proceedings and the phases he went through, he noted how important it is for him to represent the truth. He stated,

"If I don’t try to represent the truth it will be like I’ve actually committed the acts I am accused of. And my kids will have to live with it. Their kids. Kids that I’ve met in hospitals. So the night before the trial in Virginia I didn’t feel nervous. If you don’t have to memorize lines, if you’re just speaking the truth? Roll the dice."

In retrospect of the defamation trial a few years back, Johnny Depp noted,

"Look, none of this was going [to] be easy, but I didn’t care. I thought, ‘I’ll fight until the bitter f**king end.’ And if I end up pumping gas? That’s all right. I’ve done that before."

Speaking from his heart, the Edward Scissorhands actor also conveyed

"I have no regrets about anything. Because, truly, what can we do about last week’s dinner? Not a f**king thing."

Contemplating people who stood against him during the controversial trial, he expressed his raw thoughts, adding,

"As weird as I am, certain things can be trusted. And my loyalty is the last thing anybody could question."

Tracey Jacobs, Depp's former agent, was against him. Depp also said during the interview,

"I was with one agent for 30 years, but she spoke in court about how difficult I was. That’s death by confetti, these fake motherf**kers who lie to you, celebrate you, say all sorts of horror behind your back, yet keep the money — that confetti machine going — because what do they want? Dough."

Confessing that he felt "hurt" due to the three people's responses and behaviors against him, he accused them of doing him "dirty."

Johnny also chimed in,

"Those people were at my kids’ parties. Throwing them in the air. And, look, I understand people who could not stand up [for me], because the most frightening thing to them was making the right choice."

In 2022, the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation trial took place from April 11 to June 1 in Fairfax County, Virginia.
