Two weeks after her emergency surgery, Bindi Irwin thanked her followers for their well-wishes. Earlier this month, the TV personality and zookeeper underwent a medical procedure to get her appendix and new endometriosis lesions removed.

Steve Irwin’s daughter posted some of her pictures after her recent surgery on her official Instagram account, captioning the post:

“Healing. Thank you for your incredible words of support and kindness.”

Bindi further explained why she has been candid about her health journey and surgeries, adding:

“The reason I share my health journey is because more girls and women desperately need answers to their undiagnosed pain.”

Bindi Irwin shared that she has been battling “endometriosis for more than 12 years” and continued:

“This disease is crippling and can make you feel incredibly isolated. We need to raise awareness and change the narrative for women’s health. I see you, your pain is real, and you deserve answers and genuine health care.”

The Crikey! It's the Irwins star first opened up about her endometriosis diagnosis and treatment in a March 2023 post. Bindi shared a post-surgery picture and revealed that she had been suffering from the disease for a decade before getting operated on for the removal of 37 lesions and a cyst. She detailed her experience and concluded:

“I’m aware of millions of women struggling with a similar story. There’s stigma around this awful disease. I’m sharing my story for anyone who reads this & is quietly dealing with pain & no answers. Let this be your validation that your pain is real & you deserve help.”

Bindi Irwin underwent surgery for her appendix and endometriosis lesions removal on May 12

Earlier this month, the Bindi's Bootcamp host was in Las Vegas to attend the Steve Irwin Gala to raise funds and awareness for the conservationist organization Wildlife Warriors. She missed the event due to a medical emergency, Rober Irwin confirmed to People Magazine on May 10, 2025. He said:

“She came to Las Vegas and was ready to come to the gala, put on a brave face in a lot of discomfort and a lot of pain and said, 'Nope, I’m just going to tough it out, I’m going to go for it.’ But the surgeon said, 'No, your appendix is going. That thing’s gotta come out.' Health has to come first.”

After undergoing surgery, Bindi Irwin opened up about her procedure in an Instagram story. While she was still seemingly sedated, the TV presenter said in the clip:

“Hey guys, Bindi here. I just wanted to thank you so much for your incredible well wishes. I just got out of surgery about an hour ago. I had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed and they kindly stitched up my hernia as well.”

Bindi Irwin thanked Dr. Seckin and his team at Lenox Hill Hospital, saying:

“I’m sorry if I’m a little out of it in this video. But I just wanted you to know that I’m on the road to recovery one step at a time and I am so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family.”

In the updated caption of the video, Bindi Irwin assured her followers that she will attend the “next Steve Irwin Gala” happening in Brisbane in November.
