Actor and filmmaker Kevin Costner faced a lawsuit from stunt double Devyn LaBella regarding his 2024 film, Horizon 2. She alleged sexual harassment by him and his team. According to NBC News, she claimed that certain protocols for shooting intimate scenes were violated.

She also said she wasn't given the 48-hour notice before filming an intimate scene. Additionally, she mentioned that the intimacy coordinator was absent from the set. She was reportedly asked to shoot an unscripted rape scene.

However, according to an exclusive report by TMZ, Kevin Costner’s lawyers said the shoot went well without any such complaints, but they were surprised to consider what might have changed. He also stated that LaBella’s claims were untrue and that it was an attempt to damage his reputation.

Costner reportedly plans to ask a judge to dismiss the lawsuit. After her claims, Costner and his team released certain text exchanges between them and LaBella. As shown in one of the screenshots, she wrote:

“Thank you for these wonderful weeks! I so appreciate you! I learned so much and thank you again. I'm really happy it worked out the way it did too. Have a great rest of the shoot and yes talk soon!”

Moreover, his team also released an official statement previously, saying:

“Kevin Costner always wants to make sure that everyone is comfortable working on his films and takes safety on set very seriously. However, this claim by Devyn LaBella has absolutely no merit, and it is completely contradicted by her own actions - and the facts.”

What did Kevin Costner say about “Horizon?”

In 2024, Kevin Costner appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where Kimmel explained that the Horizon movie series consists of four parts, and since such films take years to complete, it would be something people would have for a long time.

Kevin Costner shared that he first planned to make one of the movies back in 2003, but no one agreed to do it. Later, he decided to create four more, and when he told a therapist about it, the therapist reminded him that if no one wanted the first one, making four more could be a big challenge. He said:

“I don’t fall out of love that easy when I just like something. I really believe in the movie experience. I feel like there's a movie that I would want to see I don't feel any different than you. There's this thing that happens in a theater.”

He went on:

“When the lights go out and they come on you always think well they don't have a curtain anymore but I remember when the curtain just used to open, I miss it that you always thought, ‘Wowm something magic could happen,’ and that's how I feel about movies and that's how I feel about Horizon.”

Kevin Costner said that he originally made Horizon as a movie for himself, but once it reached theaters, it no longer solely belonged to him, and it became a film for the audience.
