Rock musician Marilyn Manson seems to have a clear idea about how he likes to spend Christmas. This month, TMZ staff caught up with the Sweet Dreams singer at LAX. When asked if he enjoyed the Christmas spirit at all, Manson replied yes. The reporter then asked which part of the festival he liked, and the singer said Christmas trees. He said he left the decorating part to his spouse.

The reporter then asked if his house was completely decorated with presents placed under the trees. Manson said:

“Not quite yet.”

When asked if his friends expected good Christmas presents from him, Marilyn Manson replied:

“I don’t think they expect any gifts. They think I don’t like Christmas.”

The TMZ reporter commented:

“I know. I would assume you didn’t either but you are not a Grinch, you are like you are fully into it.”

Marilyn Manson then said:

“No, I am a Grinch but I do like Christmas.”

His sentiments about Christmas came days after a sexual assault lawsuit filed by his former assistant, Ashley Walters, was dismissed by LA County Judge Steve Cochran. According to Rolling Stone, a trial was set to begin next month, but with this decision, it will no longer happen. In his ruling on December 16, Judge Cochran wrote:

“We have a situation where the complaint was not filed until about 10 years after the operative events. I’m not able to find that the delayed discovery rule is applicable. I don’t have the authority to rule that the delayed discovery doctrine would apply under the circumstances that exist in this case.”

Going back to Marilyn Manson and Nicolas Cage’s interview

In 2020, Marilyn Manson and Nicolas Cage sat down for an interview with Interview Magazine. One of the topics of discussion was social media. Cage said that he tried to stay away from social media because the Golden Age actors had a certain “mystique.” Manson opined:

“I really believe in your concept of mystique. Despite being on social media, I’ve always been a true believer of never emptying the bucket of mystery to the world, because it’s not that we’re meant to be gods or something, but we are artists.”

Marilyn Manson said that social media did not have the same amount of “staying power” because it is a platform where anyone can create anything that can go viral. This is starkly in contrast with the type of work one did. He went on to say:

“Your creativity remains in a way that will never be overtaken by social media. If it is, I’ll probably shoot myself. Not fatally, but maybe in the foot.”

The two also touched upon their shared interest in journalism. Marilyn Manson called the interview a “time-sensitive” zone. However, he added that being acquainted with the field makes it easier to navigate. For instance, he said that he could expect the kind of questions he would be asked.
