Roseanne Barr reflects on reunion with daughter she gave up for adoption: "She thought Goldie Hawn was her mom"

Roseanne Barr, 72, recently looked back on a surprising detail from her life.

During her recent appearance on the latest episode of the Dumb Blonde podcast, she spoke about a baby with Bunnie XO.

Opening up about her teenage years, she admitted to giving her daughter, Brandi Brown, up for adoption, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Interestingly, that kid later thought her mother was no one but actress Goldie Hawn.

Remembering that incident, Roseanne shared,

"I was on TV, and that’s how [she] found me. All she knew was that her mother was famous in Hollywood, and Jewish. She thought Goldie Hawn was her mom, because she looked just like Goldie Hawn."

Roseanne Barr recalled giving up her daughter for adoption

At the age of 17, the renowned comedian had her daughter in 1970. During her chit-chat with Bunnie XO, Barr revealed that her daughter was with her for around a week. Later, she placed her up for adoption due to the circumstances.

Recounting those days, Roseanne Barr added that she gave her daughter up to Jewish Family and Children Services in Denver.

As Entertainment Weekly cited, she thought of reuniting with her child once the little one turns 18. Coincidentally, Brandi came to know about her biological mother when she was around 17 and a half years old.

Brown realized who her mother was through the Roseanne alum's ex-boyfriend, Tom Arnold, whom she dated during that time. Barr also added that Arnold tried to reveal the news to the National Enquirer.

Detailing how her daughter learnt the truth, she explained during the podcast,

"The Enquirer called her, and she answered the phone, my daughter, and they said, 'Would you like to know who your mother is?'"

While Brandi thought Goldie Hawn was her mom, she was surprised to hear the truth. Roseanne further chimed in, uncovering,

"She’s all excited thinking it’s going to be Goldie Hawn. And they go, ‘It’s Roseanne Barr.’ And her words are so hilarious. She goes, 'Christ, I didn’t even know she was a Jew,' which is so hilarious."

Later, Brandi Brown found similarities with her mother, Roseanne Barr, after she saw her pictures. Seeing the likenesses, she reacted, expressing,

"Oh my God, I do look just like her!"

Roseanne later noted,

"And she took the picture to the mirror and was going, 'I do, I look exactly like her.'"

Soon, Roseanne met her grown-up daughter. During the interaction the following day, Brandi’s adopted mother joined them too. It was the first time when the artist met her kid for the first time after placing her up for adoption years ago.

Recalling the special day, she called the experience "wonderful." Since then, they have formed a great bond and have been together.

Now, Brandi is a 53-year-old lady. Praising her and calling her an "awesome" person, Roseanne shared that her daughter has built a family of her own.

"She has a son and a lovely husband, and she's a wonderful woman."

Barr is a mother to five kids. After Brandi Brown, she had four other children from her marriages. She welcomed Jessica Pentland, Jennifer Pentland, and Jake Pentland with her first husband, Bill Pentland. Her youngest son is Buck Thomas, whom she had with her third husband, Ben Thomas.
