Tension increases in Blake Lively and Taylor Swift’s decade-long friendship as the singer reportedly “wants no part” in Justin Baldoni legal drama

Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s friendship seems to be at a crossroads amidst the latter’s ongoing legal drama with Justin Baldoni. Baldoni's lawyers issued a subpoena to the Love Story singer.

According to an exclusive report by People Magazine from May 15, 2025, the friendship between Blake Lively and Swift has come to a standstill. This argument is based on the claim made by an insider.

Meanwhile, another source mentioned that although their friendship isn’t completely over, they have taken some space.

Taylor Swift became involved in this after Blake Lively mentioned her as one of the “dragons” in a conversation that was a part of the lawsuit. As quoted by the magazine, one source said:

“Their friendship has halted. Taylor wants no part in this drama.”

Last month, the outlet reported that Swift was hurt as her name became involved in the legal drama, but the two were willing to look beyond the situation. However, regarding the subpoena, Swift’s representative shared a statement, saying:

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”

Swift’s spokesperson explained that her only link to the film was allowing one of her songs, My Tears Ricochet, to be used. Since 19 other artists also licensed music for the project, they believed the subpoena was more about using Taylor’s name to attract attention than focusing on the case itself.

Blake Lively’s legal team backlashed at Justin Baldoni’s lawyer over claims about Taylor Swift

In other news, Blake Lively’s legal team criticized Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman. The lawyer claimed he had reliable sources that could provide information about Taylor Swift. Meanwhile, Lively’s legal team requested that Judge Lewis J. Liman disregard Freedman's statement.

As per Us Weekly, Blake Lively’s legal team said the court quickly rejected Freedman’s claims, calling them inappropriate and unrelated. The court removed the accusations and warned him that if he continued this behavior, he could face penalties. Lively’s legal team wrote:

“The apparent intent of the Freedman Letter is to launder scandalous and defamatory allegations about Ms. Lively and opposing counsel into the press by abusing the Court’s docket.”

According to People, Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid’s friendship had also become less close recently. One insider said Gigi felt bad that Lively was caught up in the legal situation.

Another noted that Gigi was closer to Taylor Swift and had sided with her during the drama. Although she saw Lively as a friend, Gigi reportedly decided to stay away from her.
