Rapper Charley Wingate, also known as Max B, is now out of prison. On November 9, Wingate walked out of the gates of the Northern State Prison in Newark after staying there for 16 years. His initial sentencing was for 75 years after he was linked to a robbery incident in a hotel in New Jersey. He was sentenced in 2009, but roughly 7 years later, the sentence was reduced to 20 years.

Following the news of his release, rapper 50 Cent shared a post on social media, taking a slight dig at Jim Jones. For the uninitiated, Max and Jim Jones had engaged in beef for a long time. As per reports, the origin of the feud goes back to when Max B left Jones’ label. After that, there were accusations and allegations over unpaid dues and royalties. Meanwhile, according to XXL Magazine, 50 Cent posted an X post, writing:

“said Max home it's packed in Harbor, jimmy about to drop a dime on these LOL @bransoncognac @lecheminduroi.”

According to Complex, 50 Cent posted a still from the 1998 crime thriller Belly. In the photo, one of the movie’s characters, Big Head Rico played by Tyrin Turner was seen eating a banana. However, in the scene, he was also preparing to tattle on someone. The photo had Jim Jones’ name written on it.

In other news, upon Max B’s release, rapper French Montana met him. The rapper also posted a video which was captioned:

“CANT MAKE THIS UP ! MY BROTHER REALLY CAME HOME ON MY B DAY ! HAMDULILLAH. WALKED IT DOWN ! NO MORE FREE YOU.”

What did Max B say about his clash with Jim Jones?

In July 2025, the news of Max B wanting to douse his beef with Jim Jones came about. He reflected on the situation while he was in prison. Speaking to Drink Champs, he reflected on French Montana collaborating with Jones on the song Too Late. Max B said whatever he had with Jones was personal and it should not come in the way of business. He also said:

“It was all love. At this point, sh*t, business is business. Me and bro personal affairs shouldn’t be able to stop your business. You know that sh*t was mad years ago, we was running around young, we was entertaining. Jim said a bunch of hard sh*t about me. So, we all say hard sh*t about each other, okay? Jim done wished me dead, all type of sh*t.”

Max B said he wanted to begin a new chapter in his life. He shared that he was married with four children and focused on living differently now. His goal was to earn money and enjoy a peaceful life in the future. However, in October, Jim Jones reflected on his thoughts about the feud while speaking on the Let's Rap About It podcast. He said:

“I may forgive, I don't forget. And even if I forgive, I'm not here to make anybody feel comfortable.”

Jones also said that he was least bothered about what others did. He said he wanted to earn more in life.
