Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, released a memoir titled You Thought You Knew. According to Us Weekly, in the book, Federline mentions that his present wife, Victoria Prince, has contact with Britney’s sister, Jamie Lynn Spears. He also mentions the text messages that Jamie allegedly sent Victoria, talking about Britney’s behavior towards her and Kevin’s sons Sean and Jayden.
The outlet mentions that Jamie was unhappy over the way the children were treated. Not only that, but Jamie said that Britney Spears had no sense of accountability. Jamie allegedly told Victoria through a text message that:
“Honestly, this makes me want to cry because I feel for those boys so much. I’m her little sister by 10 years, and I can’t imagine what her actual children must feel like at times, but I am familiar with the feeling of being a dingy trying to survive in a wave caused by another’s ship, feeling like you have to rescue yourself. I always wanted her to get better, especially for the boys.”
Kevin Federline wrote what Jamie wrote about Britney. Jamie explained that she had always focused on what was best for Britney Spears and didn’t want to cause problems as the younger sister. So, she quietly worked on her own life and career, trying to support Britney Spears while also taking care of her own mental health.
How did Britney Spears respond to the claims?
Britney Spears seemingly criticized Kevin's claims in a lengthy X post on October 16. She wrote that she wanted to be around Sean and Jayden. Looking forward to what she wants, she wrote:
“From now on I will let them know when I am available. Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here. I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking.”
The post went on:
“I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”
As per Kevin’s book, Jamie Lynn Spears told Victoria about the time she got a piano for her nephew Jayden. She noted how happy she was on receiving Jayden’s message after he received the gift. Jamie said she was glad the kids stayed with Victoria and Kevin, as she felt that was good for their upbringing. She said:
“I’m so thankful the boys have had y’all to raise them to be well-mannered, appreciative and kind boys. Any parent who’s actually raised their children knows that raising kids is the toughest job on Earth, and you both are raising those boys and their siblings while also having to constantly protect and shield them from so much chaos that no one would ever understand unless they lived through it.”
Jamie also said she was sure Britney Spears never thanked Kevin and Victoria for taking care of her children, and giving her many opportunities to be a part of the boys' lives, even though they could have refused to do so. She added that she wanted them to know how thankful and supportive she was, along with others who cared about the boys.
