Keanu Reeves honored his late co-star Diane Keaton, who died on October 11, 2025, at the age of 79. The two collaborated on the 2003 film, Something’s Gotta Give, with Reeves playing Dr. Julian Mercer.
In an interview given at a screening of his new movie, Good Fortune, in New York City on October 13, Reeves expressed his admiration for Keaton's professionalism and generosity:
“Total pro,” Reeves told E! News. “She was very nice to me. Generous, generous artist and a very special, unique person.”
Keanu Reeves’ words reflect the deep respect he felt for Keaton not only as an actor but as a person. More than 20 years after they filmed together, his memories of her kindness and dedication remain clear.
Keanu Reeves on working with Diane Keaton

Keanu Reeves said working with Diane Keaton was an experience he still thinks about. He recalled how she carried herself on set and how much he learned just by watching her work.
“It was cool to be able to see her and Jack Nicholson together,” he said. “Just with the history they shared and the way the fondness and love they had for each other. It’s really cool.”
In Something’s Gotta Give, Keanu Reeves played a young doctor who fell in love with the character played by Keaton, called Erica Barry. The film allowed him to observe her process close-up. The film's director, Nancy Meyers, also mourned her and said that Hollywood had lost someone special. She referred to her long-term collaborator as a "sister," while fondly remembering her as a dedicated actress.
