Bowen Yang is leaving Saturday Night Live after five years. As he steps away as a standout and co-host of Las Culturistas, attention turns to the comedian's private world.
In 2022, the comedian opened up about his dating life, sharing a whirlwind romance that had progressed so quickly that he had to end it.
Bowen Yang's relationship history
Speaking on the Couples Therapy in September that year, Bowen Yang opened up about a particular relationship he had that summer. The Wicked actor didn't name names, but he did reveal that he met the guy on an app and spent time with him on Fire Island (which is coincidentally the name of the movie he appeared in that year).

Bowen Yang continued that he and the person hit it off due to their mutual interests, such as anime, Glee, and video games. However, the guy started posting photos on social media, including a selfie with Yang, with the caption "magic is real."
For the comedian, this signaled a quick progress of the relationship. He added on the show that he was a private person and he wasn't used to posting pictures on social media early on in the relationship. After New York Pride, Bowen Yang officially called it off.
As of press time, there are no reports regarding the actor's relationship, so it's safe to assume that Bowen Yang is not currently dating anyone.
Bowen Yang leaves Saturday Night Live
After five years and seven seasons, Bowen Yang is making his final appearance on SNL this weekend. His last episode on the sketch-comedy show is on Dec. 20.

The host initially joined SNL as a writer in 2018 before transitioning to a mainstay cast member in Season 47. His work has also earned recognition through the years, making him a five-time Emmy nominee in 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025.
Meanwhile, his departure overlaps with his Wicked co-star and friend Ariana Grande's hosting role in the forthcoming episode, while pop icon Cher is slated to appear as a musical guest.
Yang's exit follows a mass departure of former cast members before Season 51 aired, which includes Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, Emil Wakim, and John Higgins.

At the time, Yang shared with People in September that, while speculations suggest he would also be leaving SNL, it wasn't his time yet.
"I've always gone by the instinct of, do I have more to do? And I feel like I do. Even [creator] Lorne [Michaels] and I talked about it, and Lorne was like, 'You have more to do,' and that means a lot, because I even confessed to him. I was like, 'I feel the audience is maybe getting sick of me.' And he was like, 'That's not true. There's more for you to do. I need you.'"
