Bruce Springsteen, 75, is considered one of the most renowned American rock singers. In his iconic musical career spanning decades, he has made a strong and loyal fan base globally.
While his devoted fans enjoy his energetic live concerts and raspy, powerful voice, his children often ignore his stardom, he revealed in a recent interview.
Bruce Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scialfa, married in 1991. They are proud parents of three children: Evan James Springsteen, Jessica Rae Springsteen, and Samuel Ryan Springsteen.

In a conversation with The Times, as Us Weekly cited, Bruce Springsteen spoke about his kids, sharing,
"Except for a few guitars and a piano, you wouldn’t know musicians lived here. The kids grew up in another house in town, a midsized home not unlike the ones their friends lived in, and we tried to keep a very natural domestic existence for them. Anything else is a burden they don’t need."
Revealing how Evan, Jessica, and Sam do not care much about his accomplishments and remarkable musical career, the Streets of Philadelphia singer further disclosed during the interview published on June 21, 2025,
"They ignore it. They might come to a show, bring their friends, but it’s never been a central part of their lives."
Years ago, in 2017, Bruce Springsteen reflected on fatherhood and how his three children feel about having such an iconic artist as their father. While chatting with The New York Times, he gave a sneak peek into his kids' lives and detailed,
"We had our kids late, I was 40 when our first son was born, and they showed a healthy disinterest in our work over all the years. They had their own musical heroes, they had their own music they were interested in. They’d be pretty blank-faced if someone mentioned a song title of mine."
Evan, Jessica, and Sam grew up admiring their own musical idols and listening to the artists they loved. And their disinterest in their dad's success and fame helps the E Street Band lead vocalist remain grounded.

As Us Weekly reported, Bruce Springsteen talked about his family dynamic, noting,
"I was lucky enough to have Elvis, the Beatles and Bob Dylan, to follow in their footsteps — or not follow in their footsteps. From there I learnt how important it was not to lose focus on who I am or the work I’m doing. It’s more important than the money, although it’s great to get paid well."
He further added:
It’s more important than the fame, although that can be fun too, and a nuisance on occasion. I simply wanted to write great songs, play great shows and have a conversation with a great audience. It is what I’ve dedicated my life to doing."
In 2022, the legendary singer conveyed a similar message about his three kids during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, as People cited. He discussed how his children show little interest in his music and said,
"Now they have virtually no interest in music or in that part of my life. ... But as I always say, 'They don't need a hero, they need a father.'"
Admitting that none of them read his memoir title Born to Run, he expressed,
"I know that none of my kids have read the book, though I imagine someday they will perhaps. I kind of like that. I always looked upon that as that we did a good job."
Everything we know about Bruce Springsteen’s children
Evan James Springsteen
Professionally, he is a musician and music editor, according to a Legit report. He studied at Ranney School in Monmouth County, New Jersey, and then attended Boston College in 2008. Four years later, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music.
For his original songs, he won the Boston College Arts Festival singer/songwriter competition.
Bruce Springsteen looked back on Evan's birth and his life's transition after becoming a dad during a conversation with Barack Obama on the Renegades: Born in the USA podcast.
He explained:
"That is a gift you get from your children and from your wife. Your acknowledgment of a new self. And the realization of your manhood. It was huge. You know, I woke up. I felt as someone, not necessarily someone different, but someone so much further down the road than I thought maybe I'd ever get."
Bruce spoke at Boston College’s First Year Academic Convocation, addressing the Class of 2024, as per People. During the Zoom call, he gave a heartwarming shout-out to his eldest son, stating,
"It's going to be unforgettable and the ride of your life. My son, who graduated from this very institution, told me so. You will spend your next four years living in a place where the life of the mind is paramount. The life of the mind is a beautiful thing."
Jessica Rae Springsteen
Jessica is Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa's only daughter, born on December 30, 1991. In 2014, she graduated from Duke University.
Since her childhood, she has been passionate about horse riding. Her journey with the thrilling sport started at her family's farm in Colts Neck Township, New Jersey.
In a conversation with People, Jessica reflected on her journey, adding,
"I started riding when I was really little. My mom had always wanted to ride so when we moved to New Jersey she started taking lessons. Our home is right across the road from one of the top junior training barns — and I went right into that when I was a teenager."
While attending Duke University, she tried her hand at the Olympics. Explaining the sport, she told the outlet,
"It's so much about timing and having the right horse at the right time, and have everything going well, so it's definitely something that I'm working towards — and will continue working towards until I get there."
One of the most striking highlights of her professional equestrian career came in 2021. She won a team silver medal in the team jumping competition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Jessica emphasized her choice to prioritize her career over fame, stating,
"I just try to stay focused on what I'm doing and what I'm here for basically."
Expressing her love for her parents, Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, she shared with the media,
"I've been so grateful that my parents have supported me throughout my career. They've been on this journey for me. It's been like a huge dream for them as well. So I'm just really happy that I can make them proud. And I just try to focus on what I'm here to do."

Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa had their youngest child, Samuel Ryan Springsteen, on January 5, 1994.
Proud mother Patti shared the news of her son graduating from Monmouth County Fire Academy in January 2014 on Instagram. She wrote in her heartfelt post,
"My youngest son, Sam, graduated from Monmouth County Fire Academy tonight."
People reported that Samuel sat for a civil service exam in 2017 to pursue his career as a firefighter. Two years later, in August 2019, Scialfa announced the great news of his youngest son fulfilling his dreams and becoming a firefighter.

Scialfa shared her granddaughter's name on Instagram, writing in the caption,

Despite having Bruce Springsteen as their father, Evan, Jessica, and Samuel live private lives, away from the limelight.
