Who are Lauren Sánchez’s sons? All about the boys who walked her down the aisle

Lauren Sánchez’s star-studded wedding to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in Venice featured the broadcast journalist’s two sons walking their mother down the aisle. In a Vogue feature, which was published at the same time as the wedding, Sánchez revealed that she couldn’t contain her tears at the thought of her sons walking her down the aisle for her wedding to Bezos, which took place in San Giorgio Maggiore on June 27.

Sánchez is a mother to two sons. Her eldest child, Nikko Gonzalez, was born to her and NFL player Tony Gonzalez in 2001. Her second son, Evan Whitesell, was born in 2006, a year after Sánchez married Hollywood agent and businessman Patrick Whitesell, as per InStyle. The former couple also share a daughter named Ella, born in 2008.

During a conversation with Wall Street Journal, Lauren Sánchez shared that she tested to be on ABC’s The View but was rejected. While noting that she now has another perspective on the rejection due to the birth of her eldest son, Nikko Gonzalez, she said,

“It turned out to be a good thing because I wouldn’t have had Nikko. Everything happens for a reason.”

Nikko finished his degree remotely from the University of Colorado, Boulder, while working at a social club called Zero Bond, according to Vogue.

As reported by Business Insider, when Nikko graduated from college, Sánchez, in a now deleted post on Instagram, wrote,

“Really emotional day for me. My firstborn graduated from college today! My heart is overflowing with pride for this incredible young man. It seems like yesterday your dad and I were carrying you in our arms.”

As per Women’s Wear Daily, Nikko works as a model and made his debut at the runway of Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2024-2025 menswear show in Milan in 2024. He also walked the runway at Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Sartoria show in Italy the same year.

Describing life with his mother, Bezos, and his half-siblings, Nikko spoke to Vogue and noted,

“It’s hard to beat Jeff at chess. Everyone really just gets along. There’s no real alliances. It’s kind of boring in that way.”

Sánchez’s second son, Evan Whitesell, is studying business at the University of Miami, as per Today.

InStyle noted that Evan is a helicopter pilot, just like his mother, who raved with pride on social media when he made his first solo helicopter flight in 2024. As per InStyle, Sánchez wrote,

“I can’t believe my baby soled a helicopter today.”

Today also reported that Sánchez had some insights into parenting when Evan made his first flight, and she added,

“There’s a special kind of trust that comes when you watch your kid take off on their own for the first time. It’s about letting go, but also knowing they’re more than ready. It’s terrifying, exhilarating, and so deeply rewarding all at once.”

In a 2023 feature by Vogue, Sánchez described life with her kids and now-husband Bezos and his children from his relationship with his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott. Sánchez observed,

“Our lives are pretty normal. Daily life mostly revolves around our kids.”

According to Vogue, Evan and Ella alternated weeks—one with their biological father and the other with Lauren Sánchez and Bezos—while Evan was still enrolled in school in Los Angeles at the time.
