Jason Momoa gives a bittersweet au revoir to his iconic bearded look for Dune 3
In an Instagram post on Jason Momoa's official account, the actor posted a video of himself shaving his beard. The video is partly about the actor's grooming in preparation for his role in Dune 3, and also gives a message in relation to the preservation of the environment.
Tagging the Instagram profile of his bottled water company, 'Mananalu,' Momoa starts off the video by making a comment on his look:
“Goddamnit! I hate it.”
In the video, the actor mentions his association with the Dune film franchise of Denis Villeneuve. In the series, Momoa starred in the original 2021 film as Duncan Idaho. He mentions that around that time, he launched his product Mananalu, which was one of the first of its kind at that time.
In the whole video, the Game of Thrones actor talks about his brand's collaboration with another water bottling company named 'Get Boomerang Water.' Together, they are making more environmentally friendly water bottles, with a strong resolve to abolish single-use plastics completely.
After mentioning Denis Villeneuve, Jason Momoa takes a look at his face and utters: "Oh man!" with a chuckle.
This is the second time Momoa will be starring in the Dune film series, as he did not appear in its second installment in 2024. In Dune 3, the actor is returning to his role of House Atreides's Swordmaster, Duncan Idaho. Along with Jason Momoa, actors including Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, and Zendaya are coming into their roles as Paul Atreides, Princess Irulan, and Chani, respectively.
This overall film franchise has been in existence since 1984. It is derived from the literary sci-fi work of Frank Herbert. Before Jason Momoa starred in Denis Villeneuve's Dune franchise, several renowned actors had essayed the role of Duncan Idaho in several films by different directors. The actors include Richard Jordan, James Watson, and Edward Atterton.
This year alone, Momoa has enjoyed immense success with his latest release, The Minecraft Movie, where, along with acting, he is also the producer.
Dune 3 is slated to release by the end of next year, on 18th December 2026. It looks into the journey of trials and tribulations faced by Paul Atreides in the aftermath of the events that take place in Dune: Part Two.
