The newly released I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel brings Jennifer Love Hewitt back to a franchise that began with her 1997 slasher film. Her character, Julie James, was one of the survivors from a massacre. So, years later, she helps another group of friends face the consequences of an eerily similar tragedy.
In the new chapter, Julie confronts the ghosts from her past. Hewitt also had to face her past, as the talks of her rumored feud with her co-star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, resurfaced online. They reportedly started after the film's premiere, where Hewitt and Geller were not seen together. That's why Hewitt broke her silence on this topic during her recent conversation with Vulture.
In a July 18 interview, Hewitt addressed the rumors, saying:
“I honestly don’t even know what that was or how that all came to be. I just think people don’t want the narrative to be easy. Why do we always have to be against each other and out for each other?”
She also added,
“I haven’t seen Sarah. Literally, we’ve not talked since I saw her at 18 years old when the first movie came out. That’s why it’s so funny to me. People were like, ‘Say something back.’ And I’m like, ‘What am I going to say? I’ve not seen her.’ On my side, we’re good. I have no idea where this is coming from.”
Jennifer Love Hewitt spoke about the ongoing narrative about her and Sarah Michelle Gellar that pits them against each other. She reveals that it does not reflect her relationship with Gellar. Apart from her, Gellar also spoke against the ongoing narrative about a feud between them.

Sarah Michelle Gellar also shared her response to the conflicts related to Jennifer Love Hewitt
Sarah Michelle Gellar recently shared an Instagram post, where she praised the new reboot. She shared a few photos from the premiere with some people who worked on the new film.
It showed her with director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and the cast members, Madelyn Cline and Freddie Prinze Jr. However, they didn't include any photos of her with Jennifer Love Hewitt. That's why some people brought back the rumors of their beef. Gellar addressed them in one of the Instagram comments, saying:
“For everyone asking – I never got to see Jennifer Love Hewitt who is fantastic in the movie,” she wrote in one of her recent posts’ comments after fans noticed they didn’t pose together on the red carpet. “I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened. And unfortunately JLH didn’t come to the after party. If you have ever been to one of these it’s crazy. I sadly didn’t get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn’t change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately some things happen only in real life and not online.”
Unlike Jennifer Love Hewitt's Julie, Gellar's Helen dies at the hands of the fisherman. In the reboot, Helen briefly appears in a dream sequence while Julie and Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.) help Gen-Z 20-somethings to protect their lives. The film is out in theaters now.
