As per reports at Deadline, after the departure of Guy Ritchie from directing Road House 2, Amazon MGM Studios is engaging in a dialogue with Ilya Naishuller to bring him on board to helm the project.

Ilya Naishuller is currently riding high on the success of his latest film, Heads of State. Interestingly, this film is also from Amazon MGM. The film stars Idris Elba, John Cena, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jack Quaid, and many more. Upon its release on Prime Video, it was a huge success on the streaming platform, topping the platform's viewership charts for 21 days straight!

So, going by Naishuller's success with the company, it will be a delight to witness their collaboration once again in this upcoming film. Naishuller's debut film was the sci-fi action Hardcore Henry in 2015.

Apart from his directorial work in films, Ilya Naishuller is a musician too. Being a core part of 'Biting Elbows', he has directed music videos for the band as well. Naishuller has also helmed music videos for artists including The Weeknd, the Leningrad band, and musician Serj Tankian.

The predecessor film of this forthcoming sequel, Road House, was released in 2024, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchoir, Conor McGregor and many more. It is a part of the franchise that originated in the year 1989. After its original film was released in 1989, its sequel, Road House 2, was released in the year 2006. So, after its third film in 2024, the upcoming film will mark the franchise's fourth film.

Not much is known about the plot of the upcoming film. But it might be set in the aftermath of the events that took place in the 2024 film. Helmed by Doug Liman, this film's release on Prime Video was a success. The film follows the plot of a former UFC fighter's journey after he is hired as a bouncer at a discotheque. But things did not look as smooth as he thought they could be.

Its synopsis, as per IMDb, goes as:

"Ex-UFC fighter Dalton takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems."

The film has garnered a score of 59% at Rotten Tomatoes and a rating of 6.2/10 at IMDb.
