Ashley Stock's newborn daughter, Benny May, is finally home after staying more than two weeks in the NICU. Ashley and her husband, Ben, welcomed Benny on June 30. However, soon after she was born, she was taken to the NICU for further care.
Ashley Stock shared the joyful news of Benny’s homecoming with her fans on June 17, writing:
"She’s home! And her sweet spirit has already added so much magic to our home and family. The boys are smitten 🥰 Benny responded really well to her blood transfusion and her bilirubin and hemoglobin stabilized enough for us to bring her home."
She continued:
"For now, she will continue to receive outpatient bloodwork a couple times a week and meet with our pediatrician weekly."
In her post, Stock said she’ll be meeting the pediatric hematology team at UCLA next week to plan Benny’s care for her blood disorder, known as hereditary spherocytosis. Stock also shared that they returned to the hospital for bloodwork after she was taken home.
Ashley Stock revealed that her daughter’s recent transfusion helped get her bilirubin and hemoglobin levels under control, making it possible for them to bring her home.
Still, she noted that Benny’s numbers are slipping again and her body isn’t producing enough healthy red blood cells, so they’re keeping her in a carefully protected environment while things stabilize.
Why was Ashley Stock's daughter, Benny Stock, admitted to the NICU?
Benny May was taken to the NICU after her birth. Along with the announcement of their newborn, Ashley Stock revealed that:
"Benny will be in the NICU for likely at least a week with jaundice and she potentially inherited a blood disorder that Ben also has. But she’s doing great and is being taken care of by the most amazing team of nurses and doctors ❤️"
She explained what happened to Benny by saying:
"Benny was born at 36 weeks with ABO incompatibility and also likely has hereditary spherocytosis—both of these caused a VERY high bilirubin at birth, which got her a ticket to the NICU."
In another post, Ashley Stock updated her fans and well-wishers by writing:
"Benny’s bilirubin numbers are improving every day but she is having some trouble maintaining healthy oxygen levels on her own. She has graduated from four therapy lights down to one 💪 but she remains on oxygen until she is breathing more consistently on her own 🙏"
Fans are happy to see that Benny is back home and have been sending their prayers and well wishes for her recovery.
