Facing internet's ire for the reported mistreatment of his dog, Twitch streamer HasanAbi, known IRL as Hasan Piker, seemingly has no fear of losing viewers. Responding to his chat's questions on 'CollarGate,' when asked about the controversy's result on his mainstream relevance, HasanAbi responded saying:
"No, if you noticed a lot of the outlets that covered this...has been like Fox News, New Yort Post, sh*t like that..."
Clearly turning his back on the very public outcry, HasanAbi continued:
"Also its so objectively untrue that it doesn’t really matter..."
The clip was uploaded on X by the user, @it_zzzy:
Earlier, Hasan even tried to deflect the public attention to the controversy. The clip surfaced on X (shared by @scubaryan_), where he said:
"It has the capacity to vibrate, and that's it. Are you happy? That's it. Good? There’s the airtag, there’s the f*cking v*br*tor, it also has a fl*shlight component to it at night time, and it also has a tracker in it when she gets lost, if she were to actually get f*cking lost."
He further detailed how even PETA did not reprimand him, and all they did was to ask whether or not he used it.
The HasanAbi 'CollarGate'
A wave of backlash hit Twitch streamer and political commentator HasanAbi after a recent broadcast in which he appeared to be using a shock collar on stream. Viewers were quick to point out the device, and what began as an innocuous stream quickly spiraled into a heated online debate about boundaries and consent.

The incident has also kicked off a conversation around the trivialization of the use of such devices on pets, as they are associated with animal training and pain compliance. Some viewers even argued the incident blurred the line between edgy humor and genuine harm, raising questions about how far creators will go for content.
Known for unfiltered humor that is colored with political commentary, Hasan responded to claims the following day. While he reportedly dismissed the incident being nothing short of a 'dumb joke' that didn't cause any lasting harm to the dog, the internet was quick to be a judge of the claims.
While Twitch is yet to respond or take any action on the streamer, it has kicked off a debate on the growing pressure for creators to pursue shock-value content, or whether the streaming platform has its priorities right.
