The Social Network Part II reportedly considering Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White for key roles

For The Social Network Part II, writer-director Aaron Sorkin is seemingly keen to cast Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White in the lead roles, reports Deadline.

Sorkin screenplayed the first film, The Social Network, which released in 2010 and was directed by David Fincher. The sequel is a continuation of what the original film talked about - the beginnings of the world's largest social networking site, Facebook.

The upcoming film aims to train focus on Jeff Horowitz's The Facebook Files, a set of investigative stories from The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) . These stories made big revelations about the alleged sabotage caused by the popular social media platform.

Aaron Sorkin's screenplay for The Social Network was based on Ben Mezrich's 2009 book, The Accidental Billionaires. He is currently in the process of writing the sequel, tentatively known as The Social Network Part II. For the film, the helmer is interested in casting Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White as the leads.

Officially, though, Sorkin has not approached the actors for the film yet. Meanwhile, pre-production work is on. Like the first film, Sony Pictures will handle the distribution of the sequel, too. Sorkins is also one of the producers, along with Peter Rice, Todd Black and Stuart Besser.

Since the sequel is based on stories penned by former reporter of WSJ, Jeff Horowitz's The Facebook Files, it is being speculated that the characters being offered to Jeremy Allen White and Mikey Madison could be working together in the film to expose Facebook. For the film, Allen White might be roped in to essay the role of Horowitz, whereas Mikey Madison could portray the role of an informant.

For years after the release of the 2010 film, Aaron Sorkin has been expressing enthusiasm about developing a sequel. However, he was in search for an apt narrative for The Social Network Part II.

The sequel will also explore how Facebook has been instrumental in shaping political ideologies as well as allegedly igniting violence in the United States lately. It will also take a closer look at how Facebook has been influential in the lives of the younger crowd.

The Social Network was a huge success upon release, and was honored with several awards and nominations including the Oscars and the Golden Globes. Directed by David Fincher, the film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, and many others.

The film explores the beginnings of Facebook and the journey of its creator, Mark Zuckerberg. It also highlights the trials and tribulations that followed.

Bringing in actors like Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White could be a great decision for The Social Network Part II. Madison, who has had an immensely successful year, winning the Best Actress Oscar for Anora.

At the same time, the Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy award-winning actor Jeremy Allen White has earned massive recognition for his acclaimed series, The Bear (2022-present).
