Warner Bros is making sure we leave the theaters entertained, which has led to a major box office record. The studio's last six theatrically released films have earned over $40 million on their opening weekends in the North American market. According to Discussing Film, it is the first studio to achieve this feat with its consecutive releases.

The studio has achieved this record with Zach Cregger's brooding mystery horror Weapons. The film has surpassed box office expectations, earning $42.5 million domestically within three days of its release on August 8, 2025. With $27.5 million from international markets, the film's worldwide collection currently stands at $70 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

Apart from Weapons, the other films that helped Warner Bros achieve this feat are Superman, F1, Final Destination: Bloodlines, Sinners, and A Minecraft Movie.

Warner Bros' 2025 Box Office Record details, revealed

Warner Bros began 2025 with the release of Companion, a horror film headlined by Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid, which earned over $36 million against its $10 million reported budget.

The studio followed it up with Bong Joon Ho's sci-fi thriller Mickey 17, led by Robert Pattinson's cleverly dark comedic turn. Apart from distribution, the studio also handled co-production with a hefty price tag. Unfortunately, despite a positive reception, the film had an underwhelming run at the box office. Later, Barry Levinson's The Alto Knights, another co-production from the studio, turned out to be a critical and commercial misfire.

Eventually, the studio found success with A Minecraft Movie, a video-game adaptation helmed by Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess. It earned over $162 million domestically upon its debut in theaters, marking a huge success for the studio. The overall collection currently stands at $955 million against its $150 million reported budget.

The studio secured another major win with Sinners, the Ryan Coogler-directed film that shattered initial expectations. It earned over $48 million on its domestic opening weekend upon its theatrical release on April 18. Its total worldwide collection is currently over $365 million.

The next huge success for Warner Bros, as the sole theatrical distributor, was Final Destination: Bloodlines, which reportedly earned over $51.6 million domestically upon its debut in cinemas. It went on to earn over $285 million against its $50 million budget.

F1 and Superman followed up on this successful trend, with the former earning $57 million and the latter earning over $125 million in North American cinemas. Weapons becomes the latest film on this list to cross the $40 million mark in its opening weekend.

Warner Bros' 2025 Box Office Record, analyzed

2025 has not been kind to studios like Disney and Marvel, which earned big on their opening weekends but later lost momentum at the box office. It created a major shift for franchises that were thought to have a clear formula for success.

On the other hand, Warner Bros has struck gold with most of its distributed films, with all projects inching toward overall success.

Zack Cregger's Weapons is a welcome addition to this list, considering the fact that it's made with a $38 million budget as opposed to costlier productions like F1 or Superman. It's also an original film based on an offbeat concept, which offers a unique horror experience but leaves you plenty to think about. This makes the film the second most important success in this list, besides Ryan Coogler's Sinners.

Weapons is in cinemas now.
