Belarusian professional tennis player Aryna Sabalenka has won the US Open title for the second time in a row. The 27-year-old tennis star won 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) in a battle against Amanda Anisimova to retain the US Open title.
Sabalenka stated after securing her win,
“I think because of the finals earlier this season, this one felt different. This one felt like I had to overcome a lot of things to get this one. I knew that the hard work we put in, like, I deserved to have a grand slam title this season."
She added:
“So when I fell, it was like truly emotions, because it means a lot to defend this title and to bring such great tennis on court. And to bring the fight and be able to handle my emotions the way I did in this final, it means a lot. I’m super proud right now of myself.”
Aryna Sabalenka first started her tennis career on the ITF Junior Circuit. It was not until 2017 that she made a name for herself when she and Aliaksandra Sasnovich led her team to finish as runners-up.
Since then, Aryna Sabalenka has become one of the best female tennis players in the world and is currently ranked number one in the singles tournament.
According to Forbes, Aryna Sabalenka is worth $27.4 million and ranks number five on Forbes' list of the highest-paid tennis players of 2025.
More details on Aryna Sabalenka’s recent tournaments
Aryna is celebrating her first major win of 2025 after winning the gold medal at the US Open. This achievement brings Aryna’s Grand Slam titles to four.
The champion didn't have a great start to 2025. Her first significant loss of the year took place on Saturday, January 25, 2025, when she lost in the final of the Australian Open to Madison Keys.
Aryna made it to the final of the French Open but lost to Coco Gauff on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Aryna explained, referring to the time she lashed out in the press room after her French Open defeat,
“After those two finals where I completely lost control over my emotions, I just didn’t want that to happen again. There were a few moments when I was this close to just let it go. I was like, ‘C’mon now, you have to stay focused. Keep going, keep trying.’ It’s really helped me. I think I have to keep the same mindset every time - hopefully I’m going to make many more finals - so every time I’m in the final, I have to stick to the same plan.”
For Wimbledon, Aryna didn't make it to the final; she lost to Amanda Anisimova in the semi-finals on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
